I I have borrowed a Mojito 125 of a friend for a couple of months with a view to buying it, it only seems to do about 40-45 MPH is this normal for a 125. I have had the rollers replaced but this doesn't seem to have made much difference.
Does any one have any ideas as I would have thought it could achieve at least 60-65.

    Kind Regards
    Steve

    Steve,

50 to 55 is the most you should reliably get from a 125. You would need to go through the bike and make sure everything in the cvt is clean and in spec. You also need to verify the fuel and ignition systems. Tire pressures also can play a big role in attaining top speed within the 50 to 55 mph limits.

60 to 65 mph you really need to be considering a 250.

Thanks very much for your reply, I really thought I would get at least 60 out of a 125.

    Steve,

You might get 60+ after cleaning up the fuel system, adjusting the valves, etc however it usually will not be without he additional cost of having to do more than the usual repairs if you ride at 60+. You will get a much better level of reliability and fuel economy at 60+ from a 250 than by pushing a 125 to that level of performance.

My old 150 would drop to 45 mpg at 55 while my 250cc Sport City gets 70 mpg at 55 mph. At 60+ the fuel pump would not be able to keep up expecially on hills or into head winds so the bike would start running lean to the point one would chance burning a valve or a hole in the piston top. A streatched out drive belt can also lower top end a few mph but not a reliable 65.
