Just had PR3'S installed on my Futura. So far, I'm not too excited. They wander like they have the tire equivalent of ADD. I've done less than 200 miles so far, so hopefully things will improve with a few more miles. But they also feel pretty damn heavy... nothing i can do about that. And the ride feels more harsh that the PR2's they replaced - I'm guessing the 3 has a stiffer side wall. But holy crap are they good in the wet.

Impressive considering they work relatively well on the track as well.
Would love to know how you manage that - I got little more than 1/2 that on average from each of the 2 sets I put on my old RSVR Factory....but then I do replace them while they're still roadworthy, I guess.

Surface quality of the roads, riding style, pressures... don´t know really but it looks that the Michelins in general seem to last pretty well.
I used Pilot Powers on my previous bikes,-04 and -07 RSV, and they were long lasting as well.
For the kind of speeds I do at track they seem to be sufficiently sticky, too.
The original Pirelli´s (Supercorsa?) were completely shot at 5000.

i got over 13,500 miles out of the rear and will get probably 17-18 out of the front. have fitted the second rear and would not get anything else at this point. awesome in the rain.

I was an Idiot - killed a tire and Rd3's to the rescue

Okay I have to weigh in -as I was recently STUCK with Pilot road 3's and I am very surprised. Stuck as I decided to leave the world behind and tour/carve on the RSVR factory for 5 days and 1100 miles. And though my Dunlop q2's were not new - the sides were fine and no wear bars showing

when I left. But after 900 miles of very abrasive canyon roads and 100+ temps -I arrive in Ouray after carving blasting over red feather pass and my rear tire is toast

I could NOT go far or over any other passes...or get home. But I limped her 40 miles to a dealer who had Pilot Rd3's .....the CHP uses them on their ZX-14 sleds. I am pleasantly surprised. I have since got them over on the arrows and -from private reports they are very soft "1" in the front on the sides and a "2" soft on the sides in the rear.

Perhaps my knee dragging days are over. I softened the tire pressures ( 34 f and 36 rear) and they seem just fine but I have yet to do a track day
And I also got caught in some rain and sleet and they are awesome rain tire. Now I know why many use them as their rain race tires....

Now I still "regret " the tire decision - I have lived and loved the super soft Dunlop tires for many years and many Apes
and I would have rather gotten the pilot pures BUT

I may get surprised when I really rail a canyon and I lose the front or low side

but for a tire I would never have chosen ( I HAD to get home and a trailer /another option was a day away)

they are my tire now ....and I am sure tire wear will not be a problem. Now I am not afraid of long trips or rain. Just the occasional low side LOL

any other people liking the RD3's ?

** an an update - not soft but adequate. And I feel invincible when I get caught in thundershowers. I will just settle for great tire wear, take longer trips and -no longer push the lead group as often.
I lack the confidence the super soft Q2's provided but they are keeping their profile and no surprises...

I had the PR3 in combination with a 2CT front on my R1 and I thought they felt good, although I wasn't doing any canyon carving or pushing the tire extremely hard. Everything felt fine when leaned over though.

SHOCK HORROR!!! After 2 front and 3 rear pilot road3s which have been fanatastic ive changed to a set of Maxxis "supa dooper" diamonds????
ive had them on for about 150miles now and im geniunely impressed, the FUTURA feels 15kilo's lighter when changing direction yet the front has a nice confident turn in. They have very good straight line stability but the ride doesn't seem quite as plush as the mitchelins although that maybe my imagination and "cheap brand' prejudice?
The good news is the rear slides much more progessively when "gooning' about and their softer grip levels seem to suit the fat futura and its owner...

THE BIGGEST NEGATIVE IS MY BADGE SNOBBERY and the fact they've got MAXXIS written in fucking YELLOW !!!! HOW THEY WEAR WILL BE INTERESTING????
