    Where to go now

I have an 07 Tuono, which I love, but I'm thinking about getting an old man cruiser. What do you guys recommend? I like all the bells and whistles of the BMW K1600GTL, but... Oh by the way, I'm not getting rid of my T. I just want something for the long hauls. Thanks.

    Moto Guzzi California (Bassa)!!!
All the relaxed riding you could want AND it steers/handles well PLUS they have great exhaust notes.
Don't kid yourself with "other" bling brands. Get a Guzzi.

Ask for Sean. I used to work with him. He is Very Good at caring for your Guzzi. I trust him implicitly.

I rode the new six cylinder inline BMW and came impressed with only one thing, how low an rpm the motor could be smoothly lugged too and would smoothly pull from. It is an engine devoid of any character, the sound, what should be glorious on an online six motor is flat and without symphony to it. The bike does feel as thorough it looses two hundred pounds in the first en mph of speed however. I think for touring bikes Honda has my number best with the V4 powered ST OR Yamaha with their 1300cc inline four.

That's just sad. I would have figured BMW would know better, their 6 cyl cars seem to have character in the exhaust note.

Seems about the norm for sport touring bikes

I had an FJR1300. Extremely competent, very durable, and ultimately proved too boring and without character for me. Have they added a 6th gear yet?
Honestly, I had the most fun touring last year on an older HD WideGlide ('94) than I had previously on any sport touring bike I've had. Enough power to get in trouble (didn't though) and it was fine for all the riding we did (many backroad miles 'tween Wa/Or/Cali) at a pace that had us passing lots of people.

Yeah, it is going to be a toss up between the BMW and the Honda I think. Thanks for your input.

I just rode a friends new 1600GTL this morning. Electric motor smooth, lots of power, great wind protection. Overall I didn't like it that much. It does what it was intended to do quite nicely but if I were looking for a BMW touring bike, I'd go with the RT. Much lighter and better handling.
    Ride both before you choose.

BMW 6? Save your money and go and look at a Honda 1200 Crossdresser...loads of low down grunt, will pull the side of a house off, as smooth as an electric motor...
