    Caio

I sold my Shiver. I loved the bike. I never had any problems with it. I am only at 6600 miles. It is a comfortable and fun bike with plenty of power. I want to travel and ride some longer distances. I know the Shiver will do it with no problem. If there is a breakdown I don't know is if there will be a dealer near me that can get me on the rode again. I am afraid of the dreaded bad dealer network. I bought a slightly slower and heavier machine. The machine I bought has good dealer support nation wide. I bought a XR1200X. It is not your normal Pirate mobile and it seems to irritate the Harley crowd like the old Buells did. I will miss the Shiver for we had good times. Tomorrow I turn her in to the dealership and pick up my new bike. The Shiver is a good bike. It seems to have not received the fallowing it should for such a great bike. I would assume people are afraid of the old Italian stigma that goes with any Italian steed. I wish I could afford both but maybe I will be back in the future with another. Thank you for all the good info on the forum.

Mate, I really don't follow your logic..... you want to travel 'longer distances' so you bought a heavy 1200cc motorcycle with a 3.5gal(US) (13.25 litre) tank?? Whatever, enjoy your new ride.

There's always something newer out there, isn't there?

I have greatly enjoyed every new bike I have ridden. The trick (for me) is trying to pick something that I am still happy with when the newness wears off. I just don't have the spare ca$h to change my mind very frequently about what I ride.

To the OP: good luck, and many happy miles!

Well he clearly covered the reason. Dealer support. In the U.S. it's a 100% valid concern to even considering a long distance ride on an Aprilia. Half of the dealers literally don't know jack squat about these bikes they're selling and even if he manages to get it somewhere nearby we might be forced to wait 3 weeks for minor parts.

I'd love to do some long distances on my Shiver but a breakdown in the middle of nowhere would really screw a guy. I get scared thinking of all the money it would take to get it back to a dealer and get me home. On the other hand there are Harley dealers and parts everywhere.

I still might take the Shiver up to SF since Scuteria is up there. I hear nothing but good things about them so if I got stranded up there it wouldn't be so bad.
