Actually, I think the problem is that you live in Plainfield, IL. Illinois has basically nothing for good twisties, save a little bit by Galena and Dubuque, IA or down on the far southern tip. Come down to Lexington, KY and I'll show you some real roads that will take care of that 'unsafe' 2" strip.

Well if this isn't just a wind up, I'd suggest fitting a car tyre next time around...
You have 'flat spotted', 'boxed', or 'squared off' your rear tire. A common problem, but have no fear. There is a simple solution, so don't rush off and replace your tire, like some geek who doesn't know how to ride a motorcycle.
- Swerve back and forth in your lane. -
That's all it takes. In a very short time, you will round that tire back off. Afterwards, make a habit of doing this every now and then, when out on a ride. Like once or twice every 25 miles or so, but the more the merrier. You've probably seen some guy out on the highway, laying his bike over, back and forth in his lane for a bit and thought, "What a squid!" Except he's not; he's just keeping his back tire in shape.
I've got a pal who suggests another method: On a trip, he occasionally shifts his weight to one side of his bike for a mile or two, then the other. Makes the bike lean in the opposite direction of his bodyweight. It works; his tires last, fine. I don't find the method as good for fixing a flat-spotted tire, but I guess it's okay for maintaining proper shape. If you're on a long trip, it also gives your butt a break.
A little swerving, however, will rapidly fix your tire. Just remember to occasionally do it, to keep the tire in shape.
Fortunately i live in a place where there are little long straight stretches of road. So my tires don't square off.
However I find it hard to believe that swerving you bike every once in a while will round off a flat spot take took you many, many miles off driving in a straight line.

:wtf:
We Brits have roundabouts to sort this lol
That would only take care of one side of the flat spot...![]()

Have you had a dyno work done lately? Combining lot of dyno time with flat riding will def square off a tire.

Gee, I thought this was an 'everybody knows thing'.
Tell you what; bring the tire to me, and we'll see if a little hard riding can't improve a rear tire that's starting to square off.
