    Gearbox problems

I have a couple problems with my gearbox.

First off, my oil is black and my rear wheel is wobbly. I put a new bearing in the rear wheel over the winter and my wheel hasn't been right since. I am having a hard time finding what part number to order for a new stock bearing. My replacement was a SKF from scootercraft that looked correct, but I guess it wasn't.

Secondly, is there a gearbox gasket? I've been putting it together with gearbox RTV.

Ok, I found the bearings in the parts book. It was nice that they put the dimensions of the bearings in there as well, so once again, I ordered SKF bearings for the primary gear shaft, and the rear wheel. I will continue to use gearbox RTV as I didn't see a gasket anywhere in the parts breakdown.

Cool. The bearings that I ordered are 20x47x14 open, and 40x17x12 open. I seem to remember these bearings both being open. I'm not positive of the bearing on the rear wheel though. Can anyone confirm?

I dont think the bearing is all your issue. The bearing is a sealed type and will not discolor your oil. I am betting you have a case issue where the other end of the shaft rides.

I was thinking more of the bearing being loose fitting, causing gears to mesh incorrectly. Thanks for the info on the bearing, I'll correct my order now.

Shhh...... I don't want to think about having a case problem.
