    Imagine how much money was wasted on that second picture experiment. I mean I love scooters, but.....??? Guess there could have been scooter tracks on the moon had all gone well. Ha!

    Timing is everything...the Segway might have made a great lunar transporter and then left up there with all the other NASA leftover trash.

    2nd photo looks like a astronaut training session in an Air Force plane. They descended to negate the afect of gravity so you can simulate certain activity. In this pic, it looks like the bike is going off a small ramp to give the experience of bouncing away from the ground. I bet it is an electric scooter. Probably not too expensive and necessary as the plane is only so wide. The guys are next to the astronaut to keep him upright.

    I prefer the Portugese wooden scooter myself although the Aztec police bike does have a certain flair to it.
