Hey guys and gals, Picked this up brand new from the dealer. Aprilia had some really good specials going trying to get rid of the '09 Beo 200's left. I've been DD'ing it about 36 miles a day on backroads, about 55-60mph the whole way and this thing is perfect for that. Have just over 350 miles on it. I have the same complaints as everyone else. Mildly functional but ugly windscreen and giant mirrors, and gargantuan rear fender.

Being a "new" 09 it had issues with the carb, gelled up fuel stuck in the float. All under warranty no worries.

Looking to delete the rear fender, anyone have any warranty issues with removing something as mundane as the rear fender? I wont be cutting the wiring.

(Honestly cant wait for the warranty to be over so I can start working on this thing myself.)

Haha. Absolutely.I looked at and rode a lot of scooters and it was down to this and the SportCity 250. This one came in at about $1600 less under the sale so it was a no brainer

The 2009 Sport City 250 is still available for $2,999 so the 2009 Scarabeo 200 was only $1,399? That was a really great deal so what if it is assembled in China using Piaggio supplied parts. If I didn't have need to occasionally ride the interstate at 80+ mph I would have considered one.

SportCity and Beo 200 aren't that low in California...lol I looked for a solid year and couldn't find a Sport City 250 for less than $3800...I got the Beo 200 for $2299. It was the Lowest beo i could find in northern California by over $600.

I agree, Who cares if it's made in China...why does everyone harp on this to death? It's not like it's a Chinese company building a Chinese Scooter to Chinese specifications. It's a Italian Scooter, built to Italian specifications in a Chinese Factory..hows that different than anything we have in our lives? Nearly everything you own is made in China to European or American Specifications.

look at companies like VW, majority of their cars are built in MEXICO. Not even as prestigious as China...lol

Sorry, but I can't share your enthusiasm for Chinese goods, and Aprilia's attempt to disguise this scooter is in my opinion despicable. Throw a made in China decal in plain sight is one thing - hide it under 2 panels is another. Maybe it's the Italian in me - hold it I am Irish or Scottish of some such. These of course are just my opinions.

My understanding is that they are not really made in China only assembled there.

If they were actually Chinese made bikes you would be adjusting valves every 1,000 to 2,000 miles and changing the oil every 500 or else.

Moto International has them in Seattle and will fly you in so you can ride them home. Something like a days ride from your locale.

Bmw's latest scoots have Kymco made engines. I doubt if there is a label on it (maybe there is). Triumph Bonnevilles are made in Thailand. Pretty much every tool you're buying in Harbor Freight are make in China as well as the Sears Craftsman tools I buy with sometimes only a small oval sticker that comes off easily that says China on it.
My Beo has been as good as any bike I've owned and in some ways more solid than my latest, Suzuki V-strom. Wish I had room for both but the Beo is for sale.

My Kymco had a huge decal on the handlebars declaring its Taiwanese origins. And the name Kymco - Kwang Yang Motor Company is not trying to trick me, like calling a scooter Scarabeo or Aprilia. With the Kymco I knew what I was getting (and its really my favorite scooter in my small fleet). but with the 200 I felt bamboozled - always will. And to compare the 200 with tools from Harbor Freight surely doesn't add to its reputation. And I do realize that EVERYTHING is made in China these days - doesn't mean I have to like it.

You're right!! I'll stop appearing to want to make a case at all 'cause I don't. This is Kiznile's thread, and he doesn't mind where his scoot is built.

$2299 for a new Beo 200 is a great deal regardless of where it was made. I think it's a nice looking scoot, even with the stock fender.

Dave @ Moto has a fantastic price of $2,299 for the Beo (http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/mcd/3168625271.html) and the SC250s are still $2,799 (http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/mcd/3164267329.html) Unbelievable bargains.

And I believe the "Fly n Buy" promotion is for Guzzis only, http://www.motointernational.com/FlyAndRide.htm
