    SC 250 Headlight Fail

My hi beam has ceased to function; the bulb 'looks' good, the fuses are intact, the switch is working but the hi beam refuses to light....did I forget something?

Has anybody removed the H7 lamp and if so, what's the trick (since I can't see behind the lens cup), is it a 'twist n pull' or just a 'pull' to get the connector off and the lamp out?

I'm looking to swap the lamps to see if it's that or the connector...

See page 152 of the owners manual where it says:

    "Grasp the bulb electrical connector;
    turn it anticlockwise and
    remove it.
    · Remove the bulb.
    When refitting the bulb:
    · Position the bulb in the parabola,
    making sure that the reference
    tabs «5» are correctly
    positioned in their seats.
    · Turn the bulb clockwise."

If you do not have the owners manual check out (2008 but should be close enough):

    Thanks a tonne, Rocky!
Funny, I've got two different manuals for the SC and I couldn't find that info anywhere so double thanks for the hook-up ; j

UPDATE: I managed to pop out the bulbs to test both sides and found the hi beam was cooked (although it looked good), there's a break in the coil.
So I just ordered a couple of Philips Motovision H7's...is anyone else using these bulbs?

Some times I can't seem to see the forest for the trees so to speak in the printed manual but things even when scrolling seem to jump out more readily from the digital version.

Glad to be able to help.

The parts guy at the local Aprilia dealer has been mentioning a brighter bulb that uses the same wattage as the stock bulb and it may be the Motovision. I'll ask next time I am there and let you know what he says. He is a rider and very passionate about bikes in general.

Thanks for the input, fellas... my new Motovision bulbs (12V 55W) should be here by Wednesday so I'll update with a review once I pop 'em in.
    Cheers,

I had the Phillips Motovision bulb in my previous bike (Yamaha Vino 125). They were defintely brighter that regular bulbs. I liked the color difference it made when seeing the bike oncoming, it stood out in traffic. I thought I would miss them when I got the SportCity, but this bike has much better standard lighting than the Vino did.

I am interested in hearing how the Motovision bulb perform with the SportCity.

The Motovision lamps are better than stock...running dual during daylight, single at night...superior distance and better illuminating bluer color.
