aprilia sportcity 300 vs Vespa gts 300...for pot-holed city ..advice pls

Hi everyone, Fabs here, this is my first post on this forum. I currently own a vintage 1966 vespa 180ss (with modified polini 210 kit). It's a tourque bike and i'm thinking of getting something a bit more comfortable for longer commutes. Montreal is known for their horrible pot-holed roads and my vespa with the little 10" wheels takes a beaking everytime. I was looking around at a newer sportcity bike. I wanted to know, for our bad roads, would the bigger wheels and brakes of the sportcity be a big advantage over the vespa? Price wise the bigger vespa's go for quite a bit (around $5000 and up!) and with our short summers, you can get about 5 months of good riding...let me know what you guys think?

comfortable ride
possible highway driving
reliability
can take potholes well
nimble and fun to drive

The 15 inch tires on the Sport City handle pot holes much better than the 10 inch on the more traditional scooters but the suspension is not what you would call plush. There are those that have modified the front fork of the Sport City with a Gold Valve and have improved upon it too not that it is all that bad. A while back I had a bunch of 4X4 and 6X6 post cutoffs dumped in front of me while riding at about 40 mph and I was able to dodge all but one and went airborn for a bit on my Sport City however I did not loose control and landed it something I am not sure would have been the outcome on a more traditional scooter.

can ya Say Scarabeo any of em 200 250 300 wen avail or 500 or the beverlys of same size SC is a steeper angled bike so ya look fast droppin in those holes gotta look good if nuttin else he he
