I think you will like it. Just make sure that your bushings are in good shape.
You will definitely feel a lot more feedback, I can tell the difference in road textures on mine.

The changes that you are doing are important as well, since JOhn (my suspension guy) told me there is not a bottoming mechanism in these forks.
He explained that with most forks that he works on there is dampening circuit at the bottom of the travel to increase the compression dampening to prevent bottoming and that our forks do not have that. This would explain the Klank that you described.
Even without stiffer springs in mine (yet) I have not had any issues with a bottoming of the forks.
I will be spending the next couple of weeks playing with some settings (preload, rebound, and tire pressure) before sitting down with John to do a set up. Keep in mind my setup is going to be geared toward sport-touring more than pure sport. I like to ride a lot of miles and have some fun while I am at it.

Even with my 70 kg i found the suspension lacking in springrate and damping. As i can do most modifications myself and did not want to spend to much money, i went for parts which can be bought second hand or are available from other models. i did a DIY reshim of the fork in combination with a 9.5 kg/cm spring and 110 mm oil level for the front and fitted a yellow spring sachs shock (2001-2003 model) for the rear with a 110 kg/cm spring (modded the plastic undertray). maybe not so nice as the ohlins route but a lot better then the standard configuration. Generally i am very happy with the results. Not only did the handling improve, but also the side wind sensibiliy reduced a lot.

The DIY revalve is a big improvement over stock. For this purpose i experimented with several shim settings and till i found a nice midvalve shim configuration. The fork now gives a much better damping without being harch. i can post the settings if you want.

The sachs shock can be adjusted for rebound and bump damping seperately as well as ride height and pre-load. The pre-load is however not adjustable with a hydraulic adjuster. The sachs shock can be bought quitte cheap on e-bay but the valving is a little bit harch on bumps. De sachs shock can be rebuild for your bike specifically, but many suspension tuners do not like the Sachs as they need others tooling. Ohlins shock would be better imho but are more expensive.
