Hi CapoAndrew and Precis,
How far are you from Mamungkukumpurangkuntjunya?
Dave
My name is Dave,
bike's name is Black Betty.
When you're traveling, you are what you are right there and then.
Caponord - Douglas Dragonfly - 1942 Harley back again
Pegaso - Matchless G3LS - BSA A7SS - 1942 Harley - Matchless G80/600cc - Matchless G3LS - BSA C15 - Velocette
The devil's pisspot? That's up near Oodnadatta, so a long way from me, further for CapoAndrew and even further for JohnG; Satellitebikeman lives up that way and is often around & about - he might have bneen there.
I'm just back from a few days in the forests with the dirt-bike: I had a Gillard of a week, so threw some gear and a bike into the Toy Hauler, hooked up the ute and went - well, I'm not sure where I went, but <away>.
It was good - just pottering around some forest trails; getting back to camp in time to keep the campfire stoked, refuel and rearm then head off in a different direction. I had a Satnav breadcrumbing but didn't really need it to get back to where I'd parked; no idea how far I went but I never ran out of fuel. Nights are frigging cold, but lying under a pile of blankets listening to rain on the 'van's roof, after a decent curry and just enough medicinal firewater - well, life doesn't get a lot better - warmer and drier perhaps!
Mother-in-law's coming for two weeks soon - might need to go again!

if you are in the area of devils bridge and fancy something to eat and some charming conversation from a charming lady you should make a visit to 'Cafi - Nansi' in pont-rhyd-y-groes'
AndyB and i stopped there whilst on the last camping weekend and enjoyed a generous bacon and egg roll and cup of coffee served by the propriator Angela.
the image attached is from google street view and doesnt do it justice since the caravan in now in the garden of the house behind a wall with tables and chairs, the scrap vehicles are no longer there either.
the fat black dog is still there though, he just loves the scraps from the table.
i promised angela i would spread the word so please go and have a very reasonably priced bacon butty from her.
the house is right next to the river ystwith and the location is quiet and scenic, there were several other bikers there when we made a visit.
