While I was never really a fan of this rookie rule, I don't think it's going to change the quality of racing in the premiere class....it appears as if Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta has caved in to pressure from Honda
Sure, we are getting an occasional good 'race', what MotoGP really needs are more riders/manufacturers. As it stands now...we have 3 major 'factories' (with only 2 really competitive currently) and bunch of pseudo prototype bikes that, despite what was hoped for, aren't "mixing it up" with the factory bikes.
That being said, as much as I was down on the idea of Moto2 with their one make engines....the racing in Moto2 has been pretty awesome. Moto3 is turning out to be pretty fun to watch as well. (I do like the sounds of single cylinder bikes...it has a cool 'vintage' sound to it)
It will be neat to see if Marquez can run upfront on the main bikes...if he starts crashing a bunch...???

That would be my thinking too behind any rule change. Having said that, I would rather see Marquez on a full blown factory bike running with the top boys
As a matter of interest, aren't the factory bikes being tamed to be less like prototypes and more like the CRT stuff to make the races more like, er, races??

I thought that they were taming the factory bikes as well Fwags. Won't matter to Marquez though, he'll be ace on anything. Love him.

Taming or dumbing down???
When they go that road and have engine allotments will the crts be lower horsepower than the super bikes like they are now???

The cynical view.......once again the rules are manipulated in deference to pressure from Honda and their Spanish cronies.
I can see Marquez crashing his brains out on the bigger bikes, remember they're virtually twice the power of a moto2 bike and far more complex in terms of electronics etc + his lack of respect for his fellow riders on track and his sometimes reckless riding will need some serious attention before he's accepted within the ranks of the 'big boys'......he's an obvious talent but personally I'm not enjoying his attitude, even riding his scooter around the paddock at the weekend he was acting like an arrogant prick, the kid needs a slap!
Not cynical at all. That's a simple statement of fact. It really is time Ezpeleta grew some balls and stopped letting Honda call the shots? If they threaten to leave then let them bloody leave! I'm sure ART would be quite happy to flood the grid with CRT Aprilias.
Also I agree totally about Marquez. The kid is an amazing talent but borderline dangerous at times. The clash wath Espargaro at Catalunya was plain reckless. He's going to badly injure himself or somebody else.

I'm sure if they had there way all the races would be run in Spain!![]()

Thank you....no doubt he is very good and talented, but i personally can't stand him. Hopefully Pol, Iannone, or Luthi takes the championship. That hit on Pol in catalunya was unbelievable. I was so happy to see Redding give him a taste of his own meds yesterday. That type of riding is not going to work out well for him in MotoGP. The thing that kills me is, he acts like he is already the champion.....but he hasn't done it yet, and this season is still up for grabs.....he definitely isn't running away with the championship. I'd much rather see a humble guy like Bradl, Cal, or Bautista on the HRC team.....not this kid.

You have to acknowledge Marquez's talent, and he'll likely get the HRC ride (if Stoner really does go!), but .... wasn't it great to see Redding get one over him this weekend.
I wouldn´t count too much on Marquez until we actually see what he can do with a motogp bike.
If you remember, Dani was even brighter star in 250:s and while he has been one of the top guys
in motogp he still hasn´t delivered what many were expecting from him in this class.
Some experts reckon that Danis small size is a drawback in handling the motogp bikes and
Marc is about the same caliper I think?
We all knew that rookie rule would be scrapped when Stoner put in his papers
It seems obvious Marquez will sign with repsol Honda, and this greatly diminishes Pedrosa's bargaining power with HRC, IMO. Would love to see Pedrosa on a factory Yamaha to see how he would ride another brand. Lorenzo says he doesn't care who his teammate is going to be, so hopefully that statement will be put to the test.
All the factories benefit from this. Now Ducati could drop Hayden and hire someone like Luthi to study under Rossi how to get seventh place for when Vale retires in a couple of years.
