hmmm, wont start?

righ so my completely standard rs50 bump started fine the day we brought it (battery was dead), got it home switched the battery out started off the button straight away went out today to start the bike it was just turning over, checked the battery and its fully charged, swapped the plug out too my old race plug off my other rs50 cant remember what letters it had but it was an 8 something :L the one that was in it was a 5 something :O
wouldnt start, checked there was spark.. wouldnt start, swapped for old starter motor (very noisy but never let me down) still wouldnt start so i stuck on the original quite one, still wouldnt start! so i gave up and went out for dinner

my blue rs50 did this when i first got it (all standard also, and it always started by bump :L) i then had my 19.5mm carb on then the problem was never heard off again!

so am i right in thinking maybe the carb needs a clean? i will be putting the polini 19.5mm carb onto this one anyway :L but just wanted to check

Was the plug wet clean the carb and if it was me I'll just swap everything over off your other bike the engine carb exhaust

wait you put a 8 in there?? and there WAS a 5 in there??

stock rs should be B(R)9ES, use the right plug and it might start

with your polini kit you may well need to use a 8 but not with a stock one

and clean carb out, easy quick job so just rule that out too

YES it was a 5! ill upload a picture of it later, i was well shcked when i found out (was only gunna check the colour and check if there was spark so good thing really) and yeah but its a race plug and its what pmtuning recommened it... before i had my polini cylinder :P
with the polini one i had a 95 in there because it was constantly running at high rpm's so it could stand the heat better, its what patrick recomended

yeah im with nicketynoo on this one, or mabey it's just not turning the engine over quick enough - try jacking the back wheel up and put her in gear they push the start button and see if the tire turns

or just take the flywheel cover off and watch the starter bendix engage with the spinning flywheel

probs not enough life in the battery, there only little

ill say not enough lift in battery too even when its low it can spin it but not fast enough

i swapped the starter motor off my old one which ALWAYS worked! but still didnt start it so i swapped it back over because it rattled and was super noisy :L

id get all your new stuff fitted first mate, you say on your old bike you changed your new carb and the problem never recured so im thinking its the shitty dellorto sha 1412 carb causing you problems (you said its completly stock right?)

Think you might want to swap the starter engine out with your other bike and see if that helps mate.

Wait a second, my mate had a similar issue with his Moped.
It was something to do with one of the wires that recharges the battery when the engine is ticking over (have no clue what this process is called)
maybe that is something you could take a look at.
The issue caused a lack of power (electric) going throughout the moped and caused everything from starter motor/lights/speakers and neons not to work properly.
