    Cracked glove compartment door :(

So today I took off the front cover to get into the area where the radiator/coolant/brake valve is, have done this a few times before no dramas.

Anyway once I screwed it back on and put it in place, all seemed fine. Later on I noticed I now have a large 10-15cm crack where the red fairing - glove box compartment door has cracked from the bottom upwards, and now have a gaping big crack in my Beo !!!

The scooter did not fall over or anything, I have absolutely no idea how it could happen. The only thing I can think of is did I overtighten the screws when I put the front cover back on, I can't remember if I had the glove box door open and then later shut it after tightening the front cover, or what I did, but this is all I can think of..

It's probably a newbie 101 mistake..overtightening things I've learnt my lesson now (if that actually is what happened to cause this), just don't want screws coming loose or falling out that's why I put em in tight.

Now is there any way to repair it or put something in the crack to stop it spreading, should I super glue it or something? I found the part# for a new one - JC921519200005E - but it's around $100+ not a good day

Remove the door and repair from the backside using an epoxy glue. Cut a small piece of flexible mesh (like screen material - metal or fiberglass) Spread a little epoxy across the crack area and beyond, then imbed the screen material into the epoxy and add a little more on top and smooth things out with a spreader or putty knife. That will fix it up good! Let the epoxy cure flat horizontally to avoid sags and running that might spoil the fix. :-) You might need to use some tape on the front to hold the crack closed prior to starting the gluing operation. It should fix easily. Bet the weather there is nice this time of year!

Check that everything is back in place underneath. The crack seems so wide open at the bottom that something may be sticking out underneath. Maybe part of a wire harness or hose is pinched behind the glove box liner and making it bulge out.

Fiber glass mesh for boat repair will probably make for the strongest repair as long as there is enough clearance behind the door for it however if the bulge behind is not taken care of first then a scab repair from behind may make it worse.

Sometimes you will need to drill an 1/8 to 3/16 inch hole at the end of the crack to help prevent it from traveling any further but then you will need to spot putty and paint the door afterwards.
