Oil change question

being that this is my first oil change on this bike i read up on how to do it and followed to what i thought was the T. After draining all of the oil from the 3 locations and letting it completely drain i put in around 1350 cc of oil. With the 1250 it was just at the min line which i thought (using my normal bike thinking) was low so i added another 100cc. At this point it is right at this max line after riding. Being that i dont want to cause any problems would it be worth my time to drain a little bit and measure that or just ride like it is and stick to the 1250 from now on? Thanks.

If I change the filter I use 1350.
When you say 3 points, which are you referring too? I only ask as to make sure you don't think the gear box oil drain is included and have forgotten to fill the gearbox.

The engine oil can be drained from; sump, oil filter, oil tank and FC Valve.

Gearbox, only from Gearbox sump.

Opps, i didnt include the oil filter in that count. But i did just as the write up said in the order. But i did get all 4 of those areas. Pulled the fcv piston out and checked for scoring and cleaned it as well.

Did not touch the gear box. I was more or less just concerned with how touchy the oil level is and if it was worth draining a little bit out or just correcting that mistake next oil change.

I can sound like a bit of a squid when it come to the forum but i just like to know every detail about the bike rather then take the "oh it will be ok" approach. I am a motorcycle tech just have not had much exp with these bikes.

Do you guys change the gear oil every time? Do you change the oil filter every time. I have been changing out everything every 13 hours or 300 miles. Can I let the gear oil and oil filter go two cycles or should I continue what I have been doing.

Yep, a lot of people (me included) change out the gear oil every other time, same goes for the oil filter.

I changed both often when new. Eventually, after a few thousand miles there was less and less metal on the oil filter and in the oil and I have gone to 18 hours on the oil change clock. I still do filter but if I did not have one laying around I would skip it and not worry. Same with trans oil. After a while I now go every other time. I just street ride so not to demanding.
