Latest edition of Road Racing World...

Are you f-ing kidding me... 9th out of 10 bikes? If you have a bum bike, grab another, that is BS
    to Quote:
It felt flat, It didn't feel like it accelerated said Toye. The first straightaway I got to I shifted the thing into second and as the tach needle comes across 11,000 it absolutely dies and then comes back on the throttle. Just a major dead spot. On top of that it didn't accelerate. It didn't have any power"
Apparently they must have had an engine problem and said an oil leak prevented them from putting it on the dyno... They gave it 9th out of 10 bikes, only the ZX10R which DNF scored worse...

    WTF???

Yeah... Toye... Interesting cat. I think he's racing the BMW S100RR in AMA right now. I know his mechanic personally and they were talking about the V4 for next season. Guess that ends that discussion.

That would make sense as the S1000 took the top spot in their review but only on a lap time tie breaker... What a load of cr*p their shootout was (for Aprilia) (and Kawi)! Hard to really rate the top bikes when 2 out of the top 4 don't show up ready to run...

Sounds like maybe the V4 they tested was not prepped or did not have enough break in miles?

Just because our favorite bike did not win, does not mean RRW is full of crap.
John Ulrich has always been known for telling like it is and his staff is not biased towards any one brand.

Too bad that Aprilia missed out on a golden opportunity.

You probably hit it Amauri. The way they move these bikes between reviewers is the cheapest way possible I would think. In other words, no fancy going over or prep as long as the previous guy didn't complain, certainly no dyno runs. The Aprilia rep who was in charge of that bike is getting a load of 4 letter Italian words right now from upper management. Well, only if he doesn't vote pro Liganord maybe.

The engine was obviously hurting and they parked it before it got worse. I don't see anything wrong with that. Last year the ZX10 won the shootout, this year it blew up and they ranked it dead last. Doesn't look like they are playing any favorites to me.

in the end, the only opinion that really matters is the owner's of the bikes, but RRW has THE BEST (most honest) reviews IMO

I didn't mean they were full of crap Amauri, just a load of crap without a ZX10 or RSV4 to rate... I cleared up my post... Sort of like testing sports cars but leaving out the 911...
Not their fault if the bike wouldn't run though but yeah crap for Aprilia...

Just makes my bike more rare since nobody wants to own one due to shitty reviews. Those that are brave enough to take the leap know what a great bike it truly is....

I too was taken aback about the Ape and Kawi grenading.... but then again its RRW... dont get me wrong I have been asubscriber for a zillion years .. but when Chrissy's daddy is the only source of a steady pay check and buys him a spot on the M4 Team.. AHEM.. Chris Clark.. as JAke Zemke and Tommy Hayden sit on the SB sidelines.... cant wait to see all the oil rich middle eastern shieks buy the 5'6 relatives starting positions on the Knicks, Lakers, Heat ect..... yeah that is whats happening in the AMA... scuse' the rant.....
    ....just bring'em to the window...

Interestingly, Motopod had a short interview with Matt Mladin recently (5/9/12) @ 1:49 into the podcast.

He said "that motorcycle (GSXR1000) in 2009 when they gave it to us was not very good and it's still not very good now... (Suzuki) needs a serious new bike"

I for one love my RSV4-R, I came from riding an 09 CBR1000RR (Repsol, because stickers make you go faster!!!) and had a little separation anxiety while i was getting used to the Ape. Now, every time i start that motor and it give that triumphant blip of throttle and settles into idle, i dont even remember the Repsol. If I was worried about reviews i would have bought a BMW, rode one and was impressed but as far as I was concerned, no amount of power or electronics could make that bike feel any less generic. It has the soul of a sewing machine...

The RSV4 is a whole 'nother creature, its tempermental in lower revs, has a finicky neutral selection, a seat as hard as cloth covered brick, and makes my throttle hand go numb on the freeway, but i wouldnt trade it for a second, the first time I really opened her up on nice bit of S curve onto a freeway and that power poured on around 8-9k rpm while leaned over and the front wheel started to come up on me i knew i was in love. I havent been on the track in almost 12 years but I am dying to bring this bike to one...sucks that i live in Phoenix where the closest track is Firebird, which is a joke, so i might make the trek to Willow Springs in Cali for a track day or two this summer, need to lose a few pounds though to fit in my old leathers...how did i get so fat?
