Brilliant thanks
Any luck Patrick? :P
Ah fair enough lol
You need one of these,(smallest you can get), and some locktite.
You drill out the original holder from the oilpump lever (remove the oilpump lever naturaly) than you you need a bit of universal throttle cable of wich you cut the outercable to the same size as the old oilpump cable.
You take the the thing in the picture, make sure the screw fits trough the hole in the lever and the bushing on the other side (outside like the original) and stick the end of the cable in it and tighten the screw till the cable is tightly in place, But the screw and bushing should not clamp the lever and they should still turn in there, if its ok, but not to loose, it shouldnt be able to wobble to much, than you fit the lever back, on the pump and see if it can still turn bu the pump with out the screwhead hitting the pump, if so you fit a littl ring behind the lever to see if it clears it, you put than put the oilpump lever in the full throttle position with the adjuster screw turned In nearly all the way exept for a ~2mm or so, turn the throttle lever to full pull the cably tight and mark it of with a marker on both sides of the buthing so you exactly now where it needs to be later.
Than you take the lever off cut the cable off just past the last mark you set on the cable, put some locktite on the screw, stick the cable in the bushing so the markers sit as they should be on both sides of the bushing, puth the screw in and tighten it up so it clamps the cable, fit the lever back on, if (even after you fited the ring undr the lever) it still doesnt run free from the pump, than grind away a bit of the screwhead or/and bend the lever slightly so it does clear the pump body.
Fit the nut for the lever back with some locktite and it should be ok working ok again.
I never done it on a AM-6, but i done it on a carb from an outboard engine wich had a similar construction for the throttle valve so i hove theres enough clearance.
I am extremly bussy at the momend, so dont have the time to look on my RS50 how much clearence there is behind the lever, and at the momend i got no clue where i left my spare oilpump...
thats similar to what i was suggesting (partswise) yours is more suited
you can get theses from push bike shops but much smaller for:

But that one wont work as it has a nut wich defenatly will run into the pumpbudy and it also would clamp on the lever and not turn to line up with the cable and thus snap the cable pretty quick.

God I didnt realise it was going to be this much of a nightmare lol, cheers for the advice both of you![]()
Most work is making sure the thing doesnt clamp on the lever or isnt to lose, you probably need to cut a bit of the screw so its not to long, if its to short you need an alternative screw.
I fitted 2 rings on each side of the lever also, but i dont think you got enough space behind the oilpump lever for that with out the screw jamming on the pump body.
Hi just a quick update, we've stripped the engine down to check starter motor, piston, clutch etc but we cant get the clutch cable connected again. I know its got to go on the arm near the gear change lever but we cant get it connected and working again, can anyone put a picture up or explain what I'm suppose to do please? I realise we should have looked at it properly before taking it all off but we didn't think it would be a problem lol. Cheers,
the cable should just clip onto the arm.... if your struggling the cable is too tight
slacken the cable via the adjustment on the lever, hook it back on and re-adjust it
if you dont know where it goes at all then hook it back onto the lever end first, thread it round the right hand side of the bike, thread it through the little hook coming off the reed cage and then hook the other end on the arm
then adjust it via the lever adjuster

Ok, do you have a picture of how it should be connected please? I tried doing it but i couldnt get the level to engage the clutch so i could check it was working properly, im just wondering if im making a really basic mistake haha
only one i could sort out is this one, (nicketynoo"s pic)...
