    Question Questions for the pros...

    Question 1:
I have replaced the 3 degree key. Upon removing the old one i noticed a groove (a) and also obviously (B). There is also a groove on the magnetic flywheel. How important is it that 3 these things line up or does it even matter? I lined up the actual key with the cover that goes over and all seems well. Is that groove represented by A (arrow) just for decor???

Question 2: I am replacing the reed valves and notice 2 bolts are HEX-PINS (tamper proof?)and 2 are normal. Is this Name: FM8EPRXFQJZNR6R.TINY.jpg

The 3 things to be lined up doesent matter because the fly wheel cover the one with the magnets has grove inside so you can put it correctly in a way that the space"grove" inside is for the wodruff key also it will not fit on the crank if its not aligned correctly since the wodruff key wont allow it to fit also on the cover with the magnets on the outside there are i think 24 pins and on one place is clear without the pin and that position gives the timing to the sensor "ignition"
the important thing is to put the key correctly as it is on the picture

for the bolts you need key number T30 also replace them as they are pain in the ass since the metal they are built is very fragile so in the future you could remove them more easily

By the meantime, you can break the tiny pin with a punch, using a back and forth movement. then, you can use a normal bit. And thanks snugg for that little trick

Yup to the above... The Tamper Proof Torx is no longer needed. Break off the pin and either replace the tamper proof Torx with a regular one. Or continue to use that one. It will depend on how much of that pin you are able to break off. If memory serves me it's a M6 X 20. I used Stainless Steel to add a bit of "bling"...

Just so this is clear, don't do this if scooter is still under warranty(break the pins without replacing the bolts like-for-like)

This is a Morini... the Warranty is long over, unless he purchased it used from a dealer with some sort of after-market warranty. But yes, breaking the pin while the bike is still under warranty could void it...

I did the snugg technique. Stuck a very small flat head in there and pounded it with a hammer until it snapped. Several colorful phrases were mumbled in the garage from time to time but in the end the bolt got pwned and out came the old reed valve. The 3 degree key went in relatively smooth. Results were better mid range, a tiny bit of top end lost and more power on the hills.

Just be careful jo you bend the pin too far to one side, so you cant get hold of it. i had to take of the seat and box assy. and hammer a bit into the screw

You're right, the pins have a tendency to bend easily making the removal process quite difficult.
