About to buy one--Need some advice.

Hi all, I'm very new to this forum. Anyway, I'm about to buy a 2008 RSV 1000. It belongs to a guy I work with and it's been meticulously cared for according to him. I've seen pictures and fast glances and it looks like a clean bike. I have a couple of questions for you, the experts, about this bike since I'm fairly unfamiliar with the brand. I know they're awesome and I've had my eye out for one for a long time.
    1. When I inspect the bike, are there problem areas that I should pay particular attention to?
    2. It's a 2008 RSV 1000R. Not the factory. He hasn't put a price tag on it but I have no idea what a bike like this goes for. I've seen anything in the range of 6K-10K. The only mod that I can see is a set of pipes. What do you guys think a bike like this would go for? Oh, also, I don't know how many miles it has on it but assuming its about average for a bike this age. He takes it out on nice days but it's not a commuter or anything like that.
    3. Anything else that should be a consideration when pricing this thing?

on the right side behind the main fairing there is a brown connector. make sure it isnt melted or all black.
If you can ride it, make sure the accelloration is nice and strong and front brake should be exceptional.

the bike probably has around 8,000 miles. I would ask for maybe .75 cents or $1.00 per mile if it is around there.
    If it has over 10k I would be at $6k - $7k
    I core pipes - correctly
    PM if interested

UPDATE: The bike has 6600 miles on it. Not a scratch on it and wants $8500 for it. He's going to include a battery tender and a stand. I think that's a pretty good deal. What do you all think?

TOO HIGH. You can get Factories around here (California) for less than that. I have no idea what the used market is like in Italy but around here it would be closer to $7000.

There are a couple of disadvantages I have here with the price.
    A. Italians who are selling these bikes on the economy want 7,000 euro for them. Not bad if you're an Italian but with the exchange rate that amounts to about $9500 bucks I'd be paying for one locally.
    B. In addition to that, this is the first one I've come a crossed in 2 years owned by another military member, which makes it a whole lot easier to buy.
    C. Seriously, the bike doesn't have a scratch on it and has Leo Vince pipes. Comes with a battery tender and stand.

That's not a bad price, but it would be better about $8000. Maybe he would come off little more.

At this point, it comes down to how much you like the bike. Sounds like you've done your research. If local prices are 7000 euro that comes out to about $8800 usd. As others have said, $8000 may be a fair here it is I want it price.

One thing fo sho, you'll love the hell out of it.

In my mind the question is how much longer are you in Italy? If it's no more than 6 months I would wait til you get back and you will have endless choices. If you are stationed there for some time and there aren't any others to choose from then...... What about an Aprilia dealer in the area? Ebay Italy? Classifieds? There is actually a member on here selling his futura in Italy:
