    Question 2009 SC turn signal conversion questions <again>

    Ok, new 2009 Sportcity 250 owner here. So I can order the front OEM turn signals from AF1 for $38.99 ea, enabling me to install the available windscreens. But those signals with shipping come to nearly $100, is there a cheaper source for those OEM signal lights? Also, I understand that replacing the front lollipop USDOT lights with the OEM lights is pretty easy - true?

    Thanks

    Technically it is easy but then your are no longer street legal in the USA. Without the DOT signals you could be in for an insurance issue or even denied coverage if you were hit.

    They DOT signals did not prevent me or anyone I know of from putting the Puig Sport Fairing on our bikes.

    Good points Rockynv. My problem is I cannot find the Puig universal windscreen model number for the 2009 SC250 -- the Puig catalog totally skips that model for some reason.

    Just get the Puig City Touring, the numbers vary by the length of the support brackets; I've done the comparisons and the differences are up to 1/2" or so in length. Chances are you'll want to fabricate your own support brackets (the 'L' brackets) to you liking anyway. I use both the medium Givi in cold/wet and the Puig the rest of the time. You'll need to Euro convert your front blinkers if you want to use those mounting slots on the headset, otherwise the Puig is quite steady mounted to the mirrors...

    Could your Insurance Co really do Dat ? I guess Tech. they could But they so stoopid they no not what they lookin .. All thee JDM spec cars Ive got I find it hard to imagine Hell Ive tried to bring up points like this in Amall accidents that Police respond to Even got out of car and showed the cop in front of the Dumbazz driver Notta Cop said he had same Mods on his car. So its legal. Yes sir read the packages off all this equip.. even pulled some old boxes outta trunk . Not DOT spec off road use only .. And now im sposed to believe that an ins. co will challenge . They get paid to pay .. unless someones dead the court costs etc would outweigh the lil pay out.. Its like pot pipes you gonna let em into your country and expect them not be used Duhhh huhhh .. then the Govt is partially responsible they control wht they allow here .. They have to do a better Job savin us from ourselves..

    We're all using the City Touring model...same screen, different mounting bracket lengths depending on the City Touring item number you find. Like I mentioned above, if you're gonna mount it to the mirrors you'll most likely end up fabricating your own 'L' brackets longer than the ones that ship with it; longer 'L' brackets will allow you to mount the screen lower on the headset in line with the wind screen/headset. Conversely, if you use the supplied 'L' brackets the Puig will ride higher up on the headset. If you choose to remove the DOT stalks you can utilize the mounting tube/slots on the headset the way Jerry 'Spacetiger' did...very clever home made mounting brackets here;
