Shiver or DD or ???, help me decide

Wrote off my Ducati 696 10 days ago so I'm in the market for a new bike.

Don't commute, so it's only fun weekend blasts and a couple of longer trips away with the boys... Really love the look of the DD and it would suit the "blasts", but the shiver may be better suited to mini tours ( good looks, but not DD good ). I know neither will match the 696 in the bends, but hey I obviously need to slow down in that area of my riding anyway

Need to here the pro's and con's for these two bikes? Been offered an er6f at very good money but can't see myself on one of those.....

I dont have either yet, but I have been researching myself. I found a good deal on a DD so im going that route. Seems like both bikes are nice and good to have all arounder's. I say pick which one calls to you. The Shiver is a bit shorter, so its may be a bit better in the twisties? For me, the DD simply gives me wood.....and a little more unique looking.

get a dorso mate , i too wanted something to stop me killing myself yet not too boring either , a sort of good compromise ! so i came off a superduke 990 tuned to the max , to the dorso , result -it tours ok with comfort in touring mode , goes really well in sport for them madder days . i have bigger rear sprocket and arrow cans and it transforms it, if anything go with a bigger rear sprocket ( costs £25 quid) and no you dont have to buy a new chain - just push the wheel up to a shorter wheelbase, so far brilliant bike for me ,

Had my DD factory for nearly 2 years and have loved the way the bike puts a grin on my face (and still has enough to scare if you aren't careful lol)
It all depends on which bike floats your boat ... shiv or DD
2010 Factory DD that I want to make FACTORY Factory

Mate, you are not going to get any consensus on this website!!! Although the DD owners seem more vocal. The Shiver is a much closer bike to the 696 than the DD. Make sure you ride the DD as it has vastly different ergos (feet forward, hands up higher) as you would expect from a supamoto. If you like it, it sounds like the way to go for you as you obviously prefer the styling. I think you will be surprised how good a match the (2010+) Shiv is compared to the 696 in the handling department.

You'll be on tip toes on a DD unless you drop the ride height.

Haven't even read the Thread yet and I vote DD all the way!!!!

Ok now that Ive read the posts. Tall, short, it doesn't mater, I'm only 5'10" with a shortish 30" inseam and I have no issue with the height on the DD, just cant flat foot with both feet. As far as carving the turns, dont think for a minute that the DD cant hang with a monster in the corners. Its all about the lose nut behind the handle bars. I was at Deals Gap not long ago and had no issue keeping up with or even passing a number of sport bikes.

Can't agree with you more. I was on a ride with a friend and I was concentrated to keep up in the bends, while he leisurely rode his bike with the left hand resting on his thigh!!!! So much about my riding skills...

Road riding is about enjoyment, self-awareness and taking pleasure from every moment of your ride. It is most definitely not a race. Its the shiver for me but you should try both - your attitude to the ride will give the answer that's right for you.
