Update on this Sparkless 99 Pegaso .
Reg/Rectifier has been replaced along with the coil. (Both confirmed faulty).
checked the ignition trigger or pick up, looks okay to look at.
Ohms reading 225.8 (believe reading should be 560 to 600) ?
On cranking Volts A/C is: .153 (believe the value should be 1.5 volts AC) ?
Based on what I have been told on values to expect I assume that the ignition pick up may be faulty?
Can anyone confirm if these values are correct or not , if not what readings are to be expected for a faultless ignition pick up.
Thanks
Conclusion at last. 99 peg fires at last !
New Reg/Rect, New ignition pick up, why ? Cause all the meter readings based on values supplied by Aprilia suggested both were shot!
Even had the service dealer do some tests and confirm my readings.
Problem was test on the new ignition pick up tested like for like with the old!
Looks like I have done some hard earned.
Regardless instrall all the expensive new components and let see what happens.
You guessed it, no bloody spark still !
Okay for what ever reason i think why not I will check the fuses again "3rd" time.
I get to the 7.5 amp fuse out "ignition switch to ignition system" looks okay and then i think it looks different in Some way.
Grab the tester and dam the fuse is in fact stuffed!
Go out into the light grab the glasses hold it up to the light and bugger the filament has a near impossible to see break at the top.
Insert the spare fuse and after months of no go 1 big fat spark returns to the 99 Peg. "Happy days"
Happy with R/R replacement not so sure about the ignition pick up.
If anyone can get 560 ohms with the meter set on a scale of 1000 as stated by the service manual then good Luck, because neither old or new would test to this value for me.
Never mind another hard earned lesson and let's do another 13 years of adventure and fun.
