My brother used Pledge on an old 1978 GS750. Damn paintjob looks like new.
    Bikes:
    2007.5 Tuono-Black, with 1102cc's of micah's badness!
2012 Griso-Silver and black, Agostini pipe, some carbon bits.
2006 Vespa GT200-bitubo suspension all around, Malossi big-bore, head and cam, Akrapovic pipe, all put together by Micah.

gone 2002 Caponord-Oyster gray (as faithful as a hound dog)
gone Futura-Red (on the AF1 showroom floor. Get some.)

The more I learn about people, the more I appreciate rocks.

I definitely would be worried about using Pledge as it'll make anything you spray it on shiny. Most detailers recommend diluting rubbing alcohol with water to a 50/50 solution for stains on matte finish. With a very soft terry cloth dab it on the cloth and rub the area gently.

After trying a few things, methelated spirit on a soft cloth, rub in little circles over the spots, rinse with soapy water and try and it came up perfect.

I had a few spots after my bike was in th shop direct from a trip in Tasmania with bugs and petrol splash still on it. Decided to do the whole tank and it looks great.

Also got carried away with WD40 and did all the sprockets and cleaned the breaks and all that. Either way rubbing alcohol did the job.

The durability far exceeds any traditional carnauba based wax or paste. I get water beading from my paint for 5-6 months. About the only way to get it off is with rubbing alcohol.

It doesn't cause any discoloration or shiny spots like a wax or polish. Swissvax also sells a prodcit called Opaque or something like that. Way to pricey though at around $150 a jar given the success I've had with the Ultima product.

Basically stay far, far away from anything whatsoever that is a polish. You'll discolor the finish and create shiny spots where you're basically buffing the satin finish away. You're going to be fine with an all-in-one spray like Ultima that air dries.

I like the idea of this as I've only been using water and car wash on my bike with no polish/wax/protectant, but on the product listing in the link you included it specifically says in bullet point "Produces a radiant show car shine that turns heads. Guaranteed to outlast and outshine all other car wax products." So are you sure this is the exact product you've been using?

Positively. On a clear coat car with a perfect finish it also protects and shines. Then again, clear coat shines on it's own. It's a synthetic protectant/sealant. It works great. You'll see what I mean when you use it. You will maintain the matte look yet the water will bead and run right off. I've used it on matte black vinyl for my mustang and the hotrod flatz paint that I did my Shiver with.

Considering the word polish indicates you want a shine...you cannot polish matte without the expectations of having the sheen change.

It's funny this thread just came up again and I just received this email. I bought my matte paint from TCP Global. It's a special paint with flattener in the paint to give it a matte finish. The paint is called Hot Rod Flatz but it's pretty much like all of the matte paints on the market.

They must've kept records of people who bough the Hot Rod Flatz paint because they sent me this email announcing a new product line for cleaning and protecting the matte finish. Might be worth checking out. I've been using the Ultima Paint Guard Plus with good success but it's not marketed like this.

    http://www.tcpglobal.com/Customshop/...m_medium=email

    Matte Protectant

Custom Shop's Flatz Matte Protectant Preserves and Protects the BOLD Matte Look!

The new matte finish paints are formulated with deliberate microscopic ridges to inhibit light reflection and prevent shining. Waxes and polishes that fill these ridges would shine the surface and irreversibly ruin matte look.

Custom Shop's Flatz Matte Protectant is especially designed to protect the beautiful smooth look of the Matte finish paint. It leaves a microscopic protective barrier and a smooth matte sheen without streaks or unevenness.

Custom Shop's Flatz Matte Protectant not only protects the paint, it's also simple and easy to use. Wash and dry the vehicle, then spray on Custom Shop's Flatz Matte Protectant and gently wipe (while it's drying) with a dry towel until dry. That's it. It's really easy. For best results use microfiber towels.

By regularly using Custom Shop's Flatz Matte Washand Custom Shop's Flatz Matte Protectant, this powerful combination of products will preserve the brand new look of your bold and beautiful matte finish paint.

I use Meguiars Natural Shine protectant on the tank and on all the plastic parts of the bike. It makes all the black surfaces look clean and better than new. It does make the matte black tank paint shine just a bit, but not too bad. There are several "low gloss" detailers and Armor-All products being sold now that deepen the black paint while adding minimal gloss. I use the Meguiars stuff on the seat too and it does not make it slippery like Armor All does. Also works on the windscreen and instrument lenses. Note that wd-40 helps to keep metal parts free of road grime too. I use it on the exhaust, foot-peg hangars and shift linkage, etcetera. Make sure you wipe it clean though.
