    Lightest parts list... SHIVER!

So, just bought a 2011 Shiver...

Damm, it fits like a glove!

    http://pacificyamahabmw.com/Default.aspx

Sorry if I'm not allowed to post the web address!

They have customer service beyond today's standards...

    Ok, already dreaming...

What have you done to lighten up your Shiver??

Already have a battery on the way...

    Lightest exhaust?

    Lightest wheels?

Master cyl for brakes and clutch?

    other bits??

    Titanium bolts and other things?

Searched this, yes, but I wanted a list of what you folks have done, especially the little things The personal things...

    Thanks in advance!

Hmmmm, nobody except "perfect" has lightened up their Shiver??

Guess I'll be the second one!

Ok, looks like carbon wheels are the lightest.

Will try and follow in the footsteps of "perfect" for all the fasteners.

    Maybe some Rizoma bars...

AF1 has some "superlight" rotors... any thoughts?

Exhaust... anyone besides "lipstick" have system weights??

I like the look of the GPR below.

    Master cyls... weight savings? anyone?

    Levers?

Is there a lighter rear swingarm available that anyone knows?

Supposedly (I say that because I don't have first hand experience) the carbon wheels are not intended for street use. Your next best bet is going to be something like the Carrozzeria aluminum wheels (http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scrip...dproduct=38174).

Clint_fister did his DD up in tons of titanium, so that's probably your next best reference material.

Yummy. If I were were to buy a set of wheels I would for sure go with the Carrozzeria Tri-R's. They look incredible and they're quite a bit less than a lot of other options.

How deep are your pockets? That's the question

A few of us have forged wheels and they make a huge difference, if money is no object have a look at af1 store for some stunning ones. Most of us have the oz forged wheels and the weight saving is worth the outlay second hand. Would I buy a new pair? Prob not as no need if you can source a second hand pair.

A few of us have done the titanium bolts, They do make a big difference and look stunning bit you need to budget around a thousand £ to replace all of them including the main engine pins

Exhaust is a huge weight saving too, the standard one is scary heavy, take your pick they're all about the same weight but price changes from £300 upto £1000

Carbon is your next option, replace all the panels and you will save weight, I've not weighed all the panels I swooped but it is noticeable. You can't change the tank panel though as no one makes it, I enquired with the company I've bought my pieces from and due to the complex fitting parts it pretty much can't be done

Master cylinders won't save you much but look stunning.

While your doing all this you will only get some real benefit if you change the front and rear suspension. There are cheap options and expensive options, new shock ranges from £300 to £900, cartridges will range from £400 to £700 depending on make if I remember correctly. Or you could go ohlins route but you'll need new triple clamps.

Could get rbt triple clamps too, don't know how much weight saving but again look stunning

Lighter tyres (Michelin power pures are lighter)

The list is endless and it really does come to cash.

Can i just ask how much do you weigh ?
losing a few ponds is the cheapest way to go,just cant see why people spend loads of money on lightening their bike then ignore themselves.
i dont mean to come across rude in anyway but do like to say things as they are.
People spend loads on their bikes making them faster and lighter, suspension and braking awesome but do they need to and can they ride anyway.
A good rider on a perfectly stock bike will waste alot of riders on money pit bikes and laugh at the excuses.
It depends on what you want.Do you want it to look good and with bling value or do you want it to work.
Hey ho you go to work earn ya money and spend it on what you want.LOL

Keep ya chin up mate and try not to sell the bike.
Like you say life can be pretty shitty at times but even if you cant find time to ride its still nice to have them in ya garage just waiting.

    Thanks everyone for the details...

Lost 20 pounds since sept, so workin on myself as well!! and I have personality!! (still 190 lbs though)

Savin money is not the object... really don't care if I spend another 5 grand or not... Nope, don't have it sittin around, But I have spent so much over the years on crazy projects, that scaling down to a 2 wheeled one is really inexpensive in comparison...

I like things that are just different from the masses, that's why I picked an Aprilia in the first place. Live in a town of 100000 and have not seen an Aprilia yet... let alone one with carbon wheels, titanium etc.

Just wanted other thoughts, ideas etc.

I want to do some of my own tinkering, but input, experience from others always adds to the thought process...

Oh, and yes I have tons to learn on the riding side of things... but that comes with time.

No place to race around here (unlike the UK or the eastern part of the USA) plus the cops have been given so much authority that you either dont speed much, or you may as well hold it wide open when you see one cause you are going to loose your ride anyway. Plus if they catch you, they kick you in the face or tazer you till death... so ultimate speed or track performance is not the goal...

    Thanks Mikey1 for the details!

    any links to suspension manufacturers?

Carbon panels sound like a neat option... worked for a Champ Car team for awhile... They had Reynard cars, worked a bit with the carbon bits on them...was super strong and light. Good idea.

Any recomendation on the master cyls?

I like the sound of the Arrow exhaust... might be a good choice if they are all about the same weight...

Anyone done a short exhaust along the side/under the engine without going back up under the seat?

Also tyres eh?? Thanks mikey1. interesting.....

ok, zip me additional thoughts if anybody has any they want to share...

Mikey dont let the buggers get you down m8 ... and you shouldnt sell the bike unless you realy need the funds, cos you and I know you aint goin to get what its worth and once its gone if you change your mind you've got to start all over again.
Hope things start lookin up for you buddie and maybe see you soon lol
