Question Mirror removal problem AA500 - normal RH thread??

Hi, I just bought a 2004 AA500 with only 972 miles. It was one of those sweetheart deals you hear people talk about where it was owned by an old man who never drove it. But the problem is the widow of this man let the bike set outside for over a year.

The mirror posts are pitted with rust and some of the weather gaskets (around the intercom - I guess that's what they are) are dry rotted.
The left mirror came right off, but I am seriously afraid that I am going to break the right one if I try any harder to remove it.
I have soaked it with PB Blaster... it is a normal RH thread, right?

They need to be replaced or removed, sanded and painted.

The only other problem is the failed Regulator/Rectifier, but a new CBR600RR fixed that tonight (thanks for the writeups!).

    Thanks in advance!
    Tim

PS, I suppose I can dremel-brush, mask off and paint it in-place, but would rather extract it!

Sharp-looking scoot! Someone should be along shortly to help you out (I have to plead ignorance with respect to the threading of the mirror). If you should happen to break it off (heaven forbid!), there's always the option of drilling the stub and using an E-Z Out tap to remove it, the replacing the mirror with an after-market version. Emglo makes a few that would work (I have 2 pairs on stand-by, from my motorcycling days).

I can tell you that my 2004 Scarabeo GT had a right hand thread on the left and a left hand thread on the right. Just like Yamaha motorcycles. I would not be surprised if your Atlantic was the same.

OK, the right mirror post was LH thread! Now, to order some pretty mirrors!
Also the throttle moves easily but is not returning to zero when I remove my hand. I cleaned inside the plastic housing.
I am guessing the cables need lube or the return spring is rusty.
