An Aprilia in Mexico .... Ride from Northern California to San Felipe, Baja, Mexico

Well, the Tuoldo performed pretty well on my first long trip on it. Even through the four multi-mile dirt and gravel detours. The only issue was an ever-stretching chain. I had adjusted it before leaving and it became extremely loose without the axle moving, but it made it home. The 1500 miles was no problem, but the 15 hours of straight riding on Sunday was tough toward the end. San Felipe was great. Sorry for the GIANT pics.

The only stop between Mexicali and San Felipe. About half way. Welcome beers and snacks.

Giving the Tuono a little shade.

    Low tide in San Felipe.

One of several hammerhead shark heads left by the fishermen.

    Fort Awesome!

    Al pastor tacos from heaven.

    View from our balcony.

    Real pina coladas!

I'm not sure what goes on here.

    View back toward our condo.

    Watching iCarly.

Ready for the 15-hour ride back home.

    Dumbasses.

    Typical Baja roadside.

    On the road again.

Evidence of my 15-hour killing spree.

Unfortunately we spent many miles in the dirt on crappy detours.

    Through the wasteland.

    Saturday night in San Felipe.

You traveled pretty light. What was the occasion down there, Sturgis al Sur?

Any adventures to relate or is San Felipe like Vegas in that regard?

Haven't been down there in 20+ years ... it might be time.

A Vegas thing. I made everything fit in that bag by only taking the shirt I'm wearing and buying some crappy cheap one each day.

That's a great plan. So obviously all the crap we told you to take you must've had boxed up and shipped down there. Wise fellow!

The bag contained pretty much every tool I may have needed including a tire repair kit, Windex, degreaser, socks, underwear, beach towel, phone charger, iPod charger, iPod speakers, camera and charger, bungie cord, tie-down strap, all essential paperwork, two pints of gas, pint of water, toiletries, swim trunks, shoes, two t-shirts, ear plugs...

The shirts, socks, underwear, shoes and beach towel were all considered disposable and were discarded as used or before the trip home.

How do those Angels hold up to that kind of straight road abuse? How do they grip when you're hooning?

So far so good. I literally only had a couple hundred miles on the rear before I left for Mexico.
