    pistons for the Rotax v60

I am a veteran level tech and ride a 02 Milli R. I am rebuilding the motor right now have been looking for a set of pistons? Did anyone make a decent set of aftermarket pistons for the V60? I could go with the big bore ( +3mm) but fear reliability issues. This bike has lead a double life for a decade now being my commuter bike during the week, and several track days per year, plus countless canyon rides with my wife (I changed out the sub frame with a Tuono sub frame so I call it my "Milli R+1") Anyway, if someone knows of a piston set that would work with my needs, please let me know.

Fear not the big bore. I would do 1060cc or 100mm pistons in Nicasil bores for your bike and type of use. Pistons are much better design at least in terms of compression rings and such with the CP built pistons. I do no know of any high compression stock bore (97mm) piston kits, but it you find one please let us know. Just a high compression stock bore piston set with non-Dykes type upper compression rings should be good for a 5-7% improvement in power from half of redline on up. Are you splitting cases? If so size your rod bearings about .002" oil clearance too, no more bearing particles in the oil...ever maybe...

Hmmm, might have to try a set of JE high comp 97mm pistons one day. Just the fact that they have a little less open chamber volume should ramp up intake velocity a bit by itself. Anyone tried them out? Dyno files?

They look rather tasty, drop in (with some adjustments). Ducati Kamna has Pistal HC pistons in the catalogue http://kaemna.de/cms_en/katalog.htm?...el&artikel=683

Now if only i could persuade work to pay for a new set so they can examine the coated ones...

Do you use these in used cylinders, or in a set of newly coated cylinders spect to the messurements of the pistons?

I took my cylinders to a machine shop for measuring then put them in. No problems at all.

The replies were a great help, thank you all.
I found a set of the JE pistons and the motor has done its first test run last night, it sounds great and will be on the road this weekend for a break in ride. In a couple of weeks it will get dyno work and a track day (yes, the dyno is at the track, makes for easy fine tuning). I work at a Can Am dealership and found many parts switch right over (con rods, cam chains, babits, most gaskets except for the top end) I could have replaced the crank as they spec out as the same but quality of the new cranks don't look as good. Fact is, after 70,000km of street, sport, an track riding the stock crank is perfect without any wear measurable, so I had it spun balanced (.05 gr off one side)
Thanks for the help, send pics when pair job is completed.
