    Where is the temperature sensor?

    Hi,
    Need some help please.
This morning going to work I noticed the temperature gauge on my 2000 Peg was on 0 when it usually sits constantly on 80 when warm. After a few minutes it rose quickly to 80 and stayed there.
Later when I was riding this happened again but then shot up into the red over 110 and stayed there. I felt the radiator and it wasn't overly hot. Also the fan never came on as it usually does when temp gets to about 90.
After calling a friend and reading various posts on here I'm guessing its either a loose/bad connection on the temperature sensor or that water has got onto the connections (it rained heavy last night) or that the sensor is just malfunctioning.
I've looked in the workshop manual and on various aprilia spare parts websites but can't find where it is (I'm no mechanic!!).
Does it have another name? Is it the Thermistor ? Or am I just missing it.
    Thanks for your help

OK found it. Was looking under cooling system but found it in cooling pipes.

    Number 8. Part number AP0222420

Will have a play around with it and get some electrical spray on it.
    Any other advice appreciated.

#8 is the temperature gauge sender or termistor.
It has only one wire and it has that very weak, inappropriate connection.
Yes, the connection is usually the culprit, but they are known to go bad.

    Thanks Stisma,
The connection was the culptrit. I think some water had got in.
I put some spray on it had a little wiggle (connection not me) and all seems fine.
    Time will tell
