    To pre-mix or not?

So I just had a melt down on the lower piston on my rgv. Engine only has 1000 miles on it. When I rebuilt it, everything was replaced except for the cylinders which were replated. While tearing it down, it looks as if the injector valve to the cylinder is plugged and the choke cable fitting to the carb is cracked. So no oil and a lean condition equals failure. I've never had an injector problem with any of my bikes before. So my question is, anyone running premix only with good results? The guys on the rgv forum are recommending using the pump and premix but I would rather just go premix. My bike is only a weekend rider so I don't mind the hassle of premix. Any input appreciated.

i run mix premix for cylinders plugging valves but with pump running for crank
