    Are all Ohlins the same?

I put a set of 07 RSVr radial Ohlins on my 04 T. I set them with 2 rings showing above the top clamp.
Granted I do not have a new tyre on the front, but it feels like the front end falls into the 'round town' corners. Faster stuff it feels good.

It got me wondering if all the Ohlins are the same length, from top of fork to middle of axle. Anybody know?

I want to try dropping the clamps through the fork legs another ring or 2 but havnt yet. Sag is set with rider at 33mm

    Cheers

Stupid question, but you've checked your tyre pressure?
Some people will tell you that slow is good – but I’m here to tell you that fast is better. I’ve always believed this, in spite of the trouble it’s caused me. Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba.

The factory has 5mm less travell according to the owners manual, but I'm not sure if the full legth is the same.
do you have a head lift stand so you can compare the new forks with the old ones

Tyre pressure is what I normally use, 36.
I dont have a head lift stand.
Yes, I should just get a new tyre. But I have ridden on a lot worse.
    It`s a 120 70.

I am wondering of the Factory and Racing (Ohlins) owners out there, how many rings were showing on your bikes when new, and how many do you now have.

    Just curious.

The 2003 Manual states that the Showa forks have 3 rings showing for normal use and 4 rings for competition and that radial Ohlins on the R model have 4 rings showing for normal and competition.

The 2007 Factory manual goes back to recommending 3 rings showing for normal street use and 4 rings showing for competition with the Radial Ohlins fork.

I have a set of 2004 RSVR Factory radial Ohlins on my 2000 Mille and I prefer 3 rings showing.

They have a few superficial nicks and scrapes from their previous life on a track bike. The previous owner wasn't very careful with the wrenches. Other than that they are in perfect condition and well worth the price I paid for them.

    Oh Baby !

Went to almost 4 rings and what a difference! No more dropping in and trying to re compensate. Just steady stable turning in. Now I can use body language as well and it feels great.

It`s what I love about tinkering on bikes. Such small changes make such big differences.

i found 4rings was quite twitchy at speed where i live, could be the rough roads though. had to go back to 2 rings to make it a bit more stable at lean.

I will come in and comment on this next week as I just installed mine . (+ the ohlins rear). Next week is playing with a lot of settings to see what's best for me and our rough Romanian roads. Right now I have them dialed at 9 pre /15 reb/ 15 comp - 3lines and haven't messed with the rear yet. Need to set sag and then go for tryouts
