Unhappy Need some Help! > START BUTTON SILENCE

    Hi guys!

I was hoping you could help me with some of your expert knowledge.

    I fit a new FH008 Rectifier/Regulator a few days ago that I got from Stanlybobby with a
with new wiring loom, and afterwards the bike seemed to be working fine. It started no problems. I didn't have my voltmeter available until today so went down to the garage to check out my new voltage reading and go for a ride, but much to my surprise an annoyance the bike didn't start!

When I turn the ignition on I can hear a noise from under the tank as normal. The oil light stays on as normal. The EFI light is off. The lights, indicators, horn etc all work fine, but when I press the start button there is only silence. Not even a click from the solenoid. All the fuses seem to be okay. I connected the diagnostic wires under the seat together and only got "1", so no coil error codes. I charged the battery and am getting good voltage from it, and also from the new Rectifier/Regulator but still it won't start. Is it possible I short circuited something and caused some damage?

Do you guys have any ideas what the problem might be and any suggestions of what to do next?

If there is no neutral light, the bike is in gear and won't start.
There is a microswitch under the clutch lever so that it WILL start with the clutch pulled in, but those switches can fail. (Mine did)
Then there's the sidestand cut-out switch - also known to cause trouble; it can be bypassed - check the forum for details of which two wires to join to eliminate it.
I'd like to die on Mars. Just not on impact.
The appropriate number of cylinders for any motorcycle is two.

Theres also the old sticking solenoid trick. I had to hold start button in and bash the rear fairing beside where the solenoid is on more tha none occasion. The nuetral switch overrides the side stand switch, if you have a nuetral light on it could be a sticking solenoid or the kill switch. From memory the kill switch provides +ve and the nuetral / sidestand provides -ve paths for the solenoid.

Double check your kill switch position.
    ON is 1.
    OFF is -1 !

My bike does this occasionally. Pressing the starter button extra hard always makes it start. I'm thinking the contacts in my button need cleaning..... maybe yours too...
