true up to a degree planter. Because of the expense anyone who has the experience of using film or even slide, which is far less forgiving regarding exposure etc, will have developed an ability to "see" a good photo instinctivly and make less mistakes. On the other hand modern digital photography is much more than just taking the image, post ptocessing is now done by the photographer as well with photoshop etc. It's still early days in digital photography. So far it has just been a new way to take pictures...but I think artistically it will produce it's own pioneers and processes which no doubt will be "old school" themselves someday.
