Hey everybody!
Got to see a lot of old friends at Road America this weekend, and got the chance to run ASRA Superstock on my ole' RSV. Gotta tell 'ya, conditions were rotten, where the track was drying, it was so windy I almost got sucked off the bike from the turbulence. Other places were wet and slippery. It was just plain icky, and after taking apparently too long on the warm-up lap, I came around to the grid to see the limited field gone. Gone. The grid marshall made me stop, determined I was supposed to be in that race, then let me go. I passed two guys on the first lap (one had crashed and got up), and then was alone for the next lap. Going thru turn 1 on lap three the leader lapped me. Followed him around for the lap, thanking him for shortening my misery by one lap, took the checkered flag and drove back to my paddock area. Guy from two rv's over comes buzzing up on his scooter yelling that I have to go to tech cause I'm third place. I jumped on the bike to buzz back to tech just in time for the podium picture. Spent the rest of the afternoon regaining control from spontaneous bouts of insane laughter at the whole situation. Oh, yeah, and they gave me the wrong trophy at tech. I now have to return the amateur trophy at the next race to get mine.
