Wanted to see what the result of this was... I'm looking at a used one of these and I suspect it has a similar problem.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow to see if the dealer has gotten the part in. I'm sure he has. I've been working so much over time at work I haven't had time to wrench on the scooter. I've been riding my DRZ as a backup commuter. It sure as hell isn't as comfy as the Beverly, though...

I got the Thermal Switch installed tonight. I drove it around afterwards, but couldn't get it hot enough to trigger the fan. It's supposed to be 100 degrees here tomorrow and I'm riding it to work, so we'll surely see if it's fixed then. I'll post the results here afterwards.

i drove mine today to work, 20 miles, and not once did the light flicker on me...its weird, sometimes it would just flash when bike is cold too at startup and all day long, and then sometimes not at all, weird.

Sitting on the bike it's on the left side of the radiator it looks like a brass nut screwed into the radiator with two prongs sticking out of it.

    Thanks guys.
When I get time i`ll jump the fan to see if it works then go from there.

ps: Is the switch on the front or back of the radiator looking from the front of the scoot with the front cover removed?.
If it is on the back of the radiator does the top of the radiator need to be loosened and tilted forward to replace the switch if it is needed?.
How hard is it to get to?.

Looking at the front of the scoot, it's on the back of the radiator. It's easy to get to. I removed the front shield and the rear shield. Easy peasy!

Appreciate the help much but, what is a rear shield?.

I have had the front cover off a couple of times and all I remember seeing is the radiator and overflow tank.

Forgive me as i`m not trying to hijack this thread but, I have another question and it has to something to do with changing out a thermal switch.
Question: If one puts a box fan in front of the scooters radiator after changing out the switch, without draining the system, can a person run the engine with the radiator cap off and get all the air out of the cooling system using this approach?.

It's the rear part of the fairing. The glove box is part of it. To test the fan and test and replace the thermal switch you'll need to remove, in this order, the frame central cover (the plastic piece around the gas cap), The front shield and headlight assembly, and the rear shield/glove compartment. All you're going to need is a Phillips screwdriver if I'm not mistaken.

When you remove the glove compartment and the frame central cover leave all the cables connected. I disconnected them and the longest part of reassembly was reconnecting all those damn things!
