    Electrical Problem 2008 Scarabeo

Heard noise when holding brake lever, (engine running) while not moving. Discovered that starter was activating when either break lever was pulled. I can start engine without using starter button, just slight pull of either brake lever.
Not good to activate starter while engine running, so where do I look for problem.

I would think the problem would be in the starter switch on the right bar. Pull it apart and clean it then a light spray with silicone can help keep corrosion away.
The other part that could be causing this problem is the starter solenoid. It could have welded itself in the on position.
Other than those it could be a problem with the wiring but I would think that to be the least likely.
If you have a multimeter you should be able to find the problem or at least rule out some things pretty quickly.
    Good luck.

Sounds like the starter button is jambed, the starter switch is shorted inside or there is a short in the wiring of the starter button. If the starter solenoid was welded in the on position the starter would most often stay engaged regardless of the brake levers until the battery died or the starter itself overheated and burned out.

It was the starter button. It is a closed circuit. I don't see any way to get into it without tearing it up. I guess I will try to order one from A1 racing Monday. In the mean time I have the conector hanging out so I can jumper it to start then pull the jumper out.
    Thanks
