    How Tight?

How tight is tight enough for the rear wheel nut on a Duc 996? I locked rear wheel with brake and in gear but didnt want to go crazy.

Is that the problem with Valentino's race bike? They didn't use "luciousness" during preparation????????

DO NOT USE ANTI SEIZE. You wont get an accurate tq reading.
I am working on my buddy MV right now. Rear axle is 55mm and tq to 170ftlbs. (240Nm)
On the rear wheel it shows it is a reverse thread. Make sure which direction tightens and loosens on your bike.

The dealer he took it to used a 300 lb impact and tried it both way.
So now I need about 600 ft lb impact to break it loose.

Started on it and about 3 beers into it I got it to break.
Good thing I was off the clock cause I think it was the 3rd beer that did it.

You can check with the manufacturer of your anti-seize for a correction factor and apply that to the torque setting if you want to be extra sure. In 20 years on cars I have never has a problem with just running the standard torque numbers on everything, anti-seize or not.

I think they need anti-seize on that particular nut given the large size, small thread pitch and where it is on the bike.

Got any pics of the new wheels?

Mikey, this was a prep run for the new wheels and an inspection. When the wheels come in I will definately show them off. Speed said they'd be 2 weeks its been about that so any day now.

No anti-seize, torque to spec...but first, drill your hub and install a pin.

    Trust me.

Shortly after I bought my 10 yr old 996 I tried to remove the rear wheel for new tires and the nut was seized on the hub. The dealership said they could try to get it off but would most likely need to replace the nut, the hub and any bearings affected. I took it back home, cut the nut without damaging the threads on the hub then changed my tires. and replaced the nut/spacer.
I'll be using anti-seize from now on.

The rule of thumb is torque it until the ring lock pin hole in the axle is open enough to accept the actual ring lock pin.
