No spark on a 1994 Pegaso!

Two weeks ago my Peg (1994) died on me during a drive on the highway. I checked the fueltank and the the sparkplug and there was no spark at all. I did al the measures according to the manual (not the CDI because the manual give no values) and changed the CDI (Denso 070000-2170). There was still no spark. So I checked all the wires, connections, switches (key and kill) and the values of the parts of the ignition again but I could not found a error. Has anybody a helpfull advise?

Hi Pasbalf, have you tried the ignition coil? Common enough fault and costly to replace if you go to dealer. Try searching on here and you'll find the cheaper way via a renault/citreon v6 one and a bit of rough engineering.

I measured the low and high voltage section of the coil and they are within the range of values (low: 0.9-17 ohm, high: 13-24 k-ohm) mentioned in the manual.

Hi, personally I would start with the simple things first. Change the plug and if no joy the plug cap then checking stuff like the side stand switch

I've checked several plugs, checked the plugcap and the 1994-version does not have a side stand switch. I checked even the keyswitch and the killswitch and tried it without the connection to key and killswitch.

    Hi

The side stand switch would not inhibit the spark when the gearbox is in neutral, unless you have both the side stand switch and the neutral switch faulty !!!

I haven't had my pegaso for very long so I'm no expert on these bikes but have you checked out the ignition pick up coil ? Sounds like you have checked out everything else

I also checked the pickup and the value of resistance is within range.

Could be a broken wire somewhere on the loom maybe time to start checking wires with your meter and for dodgy connectors

I had something similar. Had me stuck for weeks, fault codes would show different things. The fall sensor under the seat nr fuse box was one culprit. As was the ignition coil, etc, etc. Only thing that worked was changing the coil and letting battery charge up as levels had dropped over winter and after topping up it took a few days to get to full charge. Still not sure exactly what the problem was but its going now.

    Hi Pasbalf
I have owned a 1999 peg since new done 48000 klm well serviced well kept.
Had the same problem in May this year , running perfectly along the highway and then shut down completely and with out warning.
Suspected no spark which it turned out to be.
Have been checking all the easy stuff as above , have replaced the coil after i dropped the original , have run the meter across all that i can , but to this day still no luck.
Talk about pulling your hair, feel your pain
    Still searching
    Cheers Phil
