Background
On a 400k ride at 300k's bike started to backfire. No throttle response. Red triangle appeared + EFI indicator.
Once I got to some straighter roads, managed to push to > 4000rpm. Surprisingly I think now, all warning lights went out and the bike ran OK.
However needed to slow down for a T intersection. Bike stopped and from there couldn't be started.
Tow job from here. At home resting battery voltage was 11.2v
Once battery charged up, bike started OK and ran OK at rest. Battery not being charged.
Got local shop to rewind stator (1 phase of three gone) Rectifier OK. Battery not charging.
At same time changed oil filter and oil Agip 4T 15W/50
Cost AUD$490
Milage 36500km's
After fix
Stator AC voltages 3 x > 70 at 4000rpm
Charging voltage across battery using multimeter. Idle-13.9v 4000rpm-13.9v (Personally thought this voltage would decrease at 4000rpm)
Cannot recommend. I had stator from them, lasted only little over 1000km and burned.
Ricks stator has now been in place and working fine for over 8000km.
I recall steelman2 also had electrex stator and it also burned after little ride.

Bloody hell. I hope mine lasts some time yet. Maybe its worth moving onto a RSV4 now ! I believe they are just as bad though?
I have two low power rotors (09 parts), one is getting fitted to mine when i have time, the other available to the forum.
Its the only proven long term fix & i for one dont want to be changing stators every 5mins as i like to do big miles
Hi,
So i'm dutch too and have just bought my 2004 RSV factory a week ago.
Is this still applicable to me too?
And if so, could i just call startwin? what route would i have to walk in order to get this deal?
Yes. You can get a new alternator. But only when it's fried.
You'll (problably) pay for the labour and oil only. All official Aprilia dealers can help you but there are just a few good ones. Star-Twin is one of them for sure.
