    Spools

    Hey y'all,

I'm just wondering what spools everyone is using? I've bought 2x sets of spools with 6mm thread/bolts and they don't seem to fit?

Does anyone know what size the thread in the swingarm is suppose to be? Metric? Imperial? Any help would be much appreciated.

IIRC you're supposed to tap the thread on the locators in the swingarm.

It will take an 8mm x 1.25 pitch. Why they did not tap it in production I don't know.
I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure?.

When you guys refer to tap, does that mean creating a new thread hole?

so if you look in the hole, you will see there is no thread there. You have to cut ("tap" in technical terms) the thread in the hole.

After tapping, did you use a spool with 8mm x 1.25 bolt?

Does anyone know where I can get these spools tapped on?

Go to your local hardware store and buy the tap...probably less than $10.00 Go to this link and learn how to do it yourself...its not rocket science.

Ignore the video. The 9 steps at the beginning, for tapping, do a good job explaining the process.

When I go, I want to go like dear old grandpa...asleep at the wheel with everyone else in the car screaming!!

A recent study found the average Canadian walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found Canadians drink, on average, 22 gallons of beer a year. That means, on average, Canadians get about 41 miles to the gallon. Kind of makes you proud to be Canadian, doesn't it??!!

Btw, what brand/size/type of spools are you all using? Did everyone go with the 8mm x 1.25 pitch size?
