Engine electronically chokes and dies when put into gear from neutral

Hi all. I have a 2010 rs full power 3000klms which I am saving from the state of repairable write-off. I got it home and put a battery in it and the engine fired up. Unfortunately the engine electronically chokes and dies when put into gear from neutral. It doesn't matter whether I give it some revs and hold it there it just dies. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Curtis.

without really understanding what you mean by electronically dies, but have you checked your side stand circuit to make sure that wasn't damaged in the crash the bike had?

Yeah it was screwed so I disconnected it. I figured it was just so you can't start it with the stand down. Would that also explain why it won't rev over 7-8000 rpm?

Electronically dies means that no matter how much throttle I give it it shuts down, but if I leave it in neutral its fine to rev to 8000 then back and sit on idle.

    Thank you for the responses.

The lack of revving is ,the ECU needs derestricting.

When you say that you disconnected the side stand switch how exactly did you do it. The way that switch works is with the stand up the switch CONNECTS the two wires together. When the stand is in down position it opens the connection of the two wires. To correctly disconnect switch you would need to wire the two wires together all the time. You really should just get a new switch as it is a safety feature to keep you from riding off with the stand down.

Being a bike in Australia, it should be a full powered version (unless you fitted non Aussie ECU and bits like that). I would check what else has been damaged. Your exhaust is still in good shape (no dents or stuff like that)?

To clarify, I unplugged the connector where the switch connects to the harness and no I didn't bridge the two wires together therefore that explains the engine dying when it goes into gear.

The silencer is scratched but nothing bad enough for the engine not to rev. The bike appears to have gone for a slide on its left side.

    Thank you for the responses.

8,000rpm is pretty much where the power valve is supposed to open. Is it operating? Check the solenoid by shorting it to the battery, if you don't hear the power valve clack then the solenoid is cactus, the powervalve is stuck and needs a clean, or the cable is routed incorrectly/sticking due to wear.

So I bridged the side stand wire and it goes into gear without killing the engine. Thanks for the quick replies on this. I'm going to check the power valve at the end of the week as I have an uni assignment due and unfortunately it takes priority.

So I did the lazy mans test on the power valve, the solenoid works with 12volts straight from the battery. The valve is not stuck albeit allowing a little bit of oil past it, nothing to dramatic.
