Speed Channel has effectively sucked since it changed from SpeedVision. RIP Speedvision, you will always be missed. I like boats and planes a lot more than I like 12 hours of Nascar per day.

You'd be hard pressed to find someone that hates NASCAR more than I do. With that being said, I think our displeasure for Speed Channel's programming is misdirected. As long as "Joe Moron Sixpack" continues to overwhelmingly support NASCAR, all other programing will take a back seat. For instance, for the second consecutive year Forbes has named Jimmie Johnson the most influential athlete in America. Seriously? WTF.

I'm probably in the minority, but I occasionally send Speed Channel an email thanking them for their WSBK coverage. My thoughts are that even fragmented coverage of WSBK is better than none at all. I just wish WSBK offered a live videopass similar to MotoGP.

The way things worked out in this last fiasco it was actually better than what I've seen play out on others, at least it was a show that not only re-aired but already had a scheduled time slot & I was fortunate enough to know I needed to schedule a second recording.

Even with Speed putting NASCAR fans ahead of us Moto fans other networks have screwed me worse. Speed's partnership w/ CBS for SX has fans wishing Speed had 100% of the race coverage though most of that is due all the races that don't share coverage w/ CBS as of late are live coverage so there's less missed coverage but if Speed was airing 1hr shows for each class all those praises to speed would be out the door, I still never got to see the Oakland 450 ex race because CBS decided not to air as scheduled (I actually believe my local CBS station never aired it-others aired it at an unknown later time so some in those markets for lucky if they happened to catch it).

ESPN doesn't seem to care what's more popular to watch if something runs long they'll run it into the next show, I don't know how many times I've seen little league baseball & women's basketball (yeah there's a huge TV fan base on those sports) into NHRA's time slot, ESPN is nice enough to re-air the show in full at 2am but you'll only know if watch the race before it re-airs & catch the announcement.

I remember a lot of people wishing discovery channel would pick motorcycle racing after the nice job they did w/ WRC but they even ended up screwing Rally fans not just once but a few times by airing for example day 3's race in day 2's time slot & in some cases not even showing day 2 at all, IIRC it was once or maybe twice they were in the wrong time slot & twice they missed one a day & showed another twice(at least you got partial coverage of said missed day on the now day specific shows).

It seems like you have to be a fan of just the right things in order for a network to do things right, unfortunately I seem to be a fan of the right ones.

I have now started begging them to offer a motogp.com like service to watch the races online. I'm sick of speedvision ignoring our emails, lol

I did that once, too. Mainly because they stopped showing race 1 on Sunday and race 2 on Tuesday. While it's wrong to compliment someone for simply for doing what they SHOULD be doing, I thought I'd let them know I was happy with the change. Also, it's never mentioned that Speed does has surperb F1 coverage if you're into that. It's a bit of a surprise how good it is, actually.

Now I'm not exonerating them from their travesties to non-nascar folk but I agree our hatred is most likely misdirected.

I also wish WSBK had an online package. They used to have the races on their website for free (assuming you knew how to use a proxy server).

"Superb F1 Coverage" would be seeing all the race, commercial free.

Really, I had to fast forward through something like 40 minutes of NASCAR highlights and enter the GP race at lap 11? I'm going to Laguna Seca, but just going so I can kick them all in the nuts.

Any alternates anyone can suggest? Speed can lick my hairy ass.

Well, for GP get the motogp.com subscription. It's worth it. You can watch every practice, qualifying, and race commercial (and nascar) free.

I just want SBK, I can torrent MotoGP and watch how boring each race is without paying 10 bucks a month.

You can catch a lot of great racing on Speed2 Everything from British Touring Car championship to S1 world supermoto. As well as Moto Gp. Just log in with your cable provider via the web. Its a web only channel, but really does a great job of providing coverage of race series you cannot see anywhere else. Watched live moto gp Q on saturday morning was awesome until Colins Edwards got taken out.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry....

I was checking to see when Speed was going to show the F1 race and WSBK races from Donington this coming weekend (WSBK=1pm PST)
I happened to notice something on their DirectTV schedule that made me shake my head in sorrow...thinking it might be a screw up on DTV's part, I checked the Speed website.....yup, it showed the same program

    between 7am and 9am pst...
    EPL Soccer

A match from Survival Sunday, the final weekend of competition in the English Premier League.
    ...really.

Speed Channel is showing a soccer game.

Now on one hand, they aren't showing a crappy reality program or informercial...but on the other hand...they are showing soccer....on Speed.

I'm rather indifferent to soccer so it's not like I am a 'soccer hater' but this is just getting silly. Was there no other motorsports program in existence that could have been plugged into that time slot? How about a re-airing of Goodwood? World Rally? British Superbikes for fucks sake....????

It still might be a schedule fuckup although, Apr.1 was over a month back.

    Soccer? On Speed?????
The question of the provider messing it up sounds plausible.

Well that's just ridiculous. It sounded more plausible to call it an error on the part of the provider.
    Speed showing soccer??
How about they start showing that broomstick field game from Harry Potter????
