    Brake Discs

Okey for those know me and my style of riding (no knee to ground rider) but like to go off the beaten track, I am looking at a new set of discs for the bike (46000 on clock), I am a little heavy handed with the brakes at times!! Have been looking at the EBC replacement at a fraction of the cost of Brembos.. However they do not list a floating. This does not bother me as the rattle of the floaters when off road is rather annoying. What performance if any will I notice if I go for a fixed disc? and is it okey to fit standard discs?

AllBikeEngineering (ABE.co.uk) in London do a replica of the solid OE disc that's twice as good and cheap as chips, milled from reconstituted Austin allegros.....

The appropriate number of cylinders for any motorcycle is two.

I fitted a set of ABE rotors to my Capo after the stockers were toast at 28,000km: superb. They arrive machined and ABE suggest you don't paint the hubs, but I did because I don't like rusty bits. I used exhaust black (heat resistant) and two years later - they look good, do the job, and I've pretty-much forgotten about them!
Then I recommended ABE to guys who have Flexit leaning sidecars, as our discs are a Brembo item but have seven mounting bolts, not six and are seemingly unavailable.
ABE went above & beyond to make prototypes that fitted & worked - and then made a very small production run - about 14 rotors, I think. Throughout the process they were friendly, helpful and accomodating.
Can't speak highly enough of either the products or the company.

(No commercial interest, just a very satisfied and normally very hard-to-please customer)

I couldnt believe the noise from the floating disks. So bloody annoying.

First thing I did was get a set of nearly new solid OEM discs from fleabay for £30. Fitted them and covered several thousand miles since I did. No issues to date. To be honest they feel exactly the same as the brakes on my Mark 1 Capo funnily enough.

Stops just as well as the floaters, so no regrets fitting solid OEM discs at all.

i went the ebay/chinese method. much less than oem. went from floating to solid. i got rid of the floating because they warped at around 40,000 miles in the front. they pounded themselves silly. i did the rear just at 51,000 or so because it was 3.6mm-oops. no problems. they stop as well or better than the oem. how long they last is another story. i have absolutely no idea of the quality of the steel. i hope choinese stell is good, they are building my new bridge to work. http://www.examiner.com/article/gara...o-buy-american

I don't see a price on the link, how much are they for a pair, as I like the original OEM style...
