My good friend Chris Capo (forum handle "devulge") was killed in an accident Saturday morning around 10am while riding his RSV4. He was on Joplin Road in Northern Virginia, a popular riding spot. A young driver apparently backed out of a driveway as Chris was coming over a blind crest and they collided. Chris was pronounced dead at the scene. The police said that he was not speeding at the time of the accident.
Chris has three daughters and was an accomplished IT professional with a real passion for motorcycles. He was obsessed with them and used to call me to talk about even minute geometry changes he wanted to make to one of his bikes. Over the years he had to many different motorcycles that I think it would be impossible to list them all here but I think it shows how curious and passionate about bikes he was that after buying and modifying one bike over the course of a few months, he invariably was on the lookout for his next project. He had an accident in 2005 and broke his neck but after healing up he got back into riding with a vengeance. He knew the dangers of riding fast on public roads but his passion for riding was just too strong. Ultimately he was taken by something other than speed.
His friends and family are devastated. He was just 34 years old and had so much life left to live and so many more things to buy for his Ducati 1098 and his Aprilia RSV4. He was always planning ahead, be it in his personal life or in the ways he wanted to change his bikes for the better.
Chris was a committed father to his children and though he had a few rough patches in his personal life, he always tried to do what was best for them. He will be interred at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday morning after a viewing Wednesday evening. God Speed Chris.
