Wouldn't mind a R34 GTR for my next toy!
Ross if you can get at it try a centre punch and hammer, pop it in about 4 locations if you can.
Cheers
no good. Any other recommendations? Can they be renewed?

Yes the nuts can be bought from Dave, (?), or AF1, (which I've bought before), but you you need the special tool. The nuts are called rivnuts, and unfortunately I don't have the tool. If you buy a headlight/dash sub frame for a T or RSV, you need to purchase the rivnuts and then install them into it.

Hoh, Hum, another shitty day in paradise!
Not tried it myself, but could you run a bolt through it from below then tighten a nut down hard to try to spread the rivnut a bit more to get it to re-grip.
I'd go with DR-JKL's suggestion, you can make the yourself for pennies with a quick visit to bunnings.

You will need a high tensile strength bolt at the very least, (which is the principle of the special tool by the way), and I did try on one of the rivnuts I bought for the fdash subframe, but to me, no luck in squashing it. I'm sure it can be done though without the special tool.

Brinks my man !
Perhaps you could catch up when it suits you. I still have the 50 for you too.
Just thinking out loud. Wouldn`t a new one spin too ?

I had the same problem and didn't want to bother with a special tool, so I used a clip on nut and an allen head bolt.
I ended up liking the solution better than the OEM.

Ross , it shouldn't spin if the right size is used. UMMMMMM my issue at the moment tho is no front brake until I get the master delivered and installed. So what I'm saying is I can't get up to your place at the moment, unless my parts get here this week. I'll give ya a call this arvo if I have still got ya number (new mobile)

no problem, not a rush to get it done. I will pm you my number.
Cheers.

I fixed it by threading in a long HT bolt then tightened a nut down onto the lip of the rivnut. It squashed it onto the frame enough to stop it spinning. Job done !

Hi Ross, I have a 'Wurth' brand rivnut tool and assortment that I purchased some 15 years ago to fit a steering damper to my 96 GSXR. I remember the kit was about $300.00 then, but the alternatives sounded nasty! It needed a rivnut in the frame (hole was already factory drilled) to mount the boss for the damper. I will take a picture of the kit with all the rivnut sizes and you can let me know what you want or I can send the whole kit over and you can send it back when your done. Let me know cheers Doug.
