reeds?

i just wanted to know what size reeds i need as mine need replacing.
im currently running

all on the standard top end
help would be very grateful haha

i used to run a 21mm phgb black on a stock top end (new shape engine thought) and it ran with no problems so yours should be fine

gotta say i bloody love the exhaust looks well tidy. but yeah ill upgrade to a 70cc.. For stock my self ill limit my self to 17.5mm and something like 0.30mm reeds?

19,5mm should still be fine, 21mm can be to big for some stock cilinders, and in anycase its harder to set up and wont give a noticable increase in performance, so up to 19(,5)mm is fine for a stock cilinder, though there are a few stock cilinders from Gilardoni that got restricted so much on the exhaust port that anything with them is a problem, but thats easy to spot if you look into the exhaust port and its just a slot of 10mm high


Anyway i would get 0.25~0.30mm reeds with that set up, but 0.30mm is really the max.

id go for 70cc/75cc personally - i pressume since you got a polini carb and polini exhaust you wanted to go for the polini top end 80cc kit? heard that kit is unreliable ........

think that reed block is ment to enhance throttle response and acceleration, dont know bout the size reeds in it tho , is that what you have now? are the reeds you have in it now bent or worn or are you just after bit more top speed ect?

Reeds in aftermakted reedcages are 0.25mm if nothings specified.

If i where you i get a set of Malossi reeds mate, than you get 0.30, 0.35, and 0.40mm, handy if you want to upgrade to a 70cc kit later on.

And no thicker reeds dont mean higher top speed mate, it depents on rpm and crankcase presure what thickness you need, thats why you can estimate a bit what you would need.


Polini 2 pistonring 50mm (76cc) kit is not unreliable, its a ok kit just like with any other other aluminium performance kit make really sure you got the mixture right, run aditional oil trough the feul, and only use premium feuls and oils, and make sure you got the right sparkplug for the kit! i would use a NGK10EGV with that.

personally i wudnt go for the polini kit and i dont like the maxi kit either to be honest but i do not have a clue about the maxi kit one.............

youv already got the exhaust and carb for the job just remember to re-jet

yerr i think it is this crankshaft but if you do decide to go for the ital kit then theres a number on the item ad which will tell you the product code so you can get hold of it by adrenaline pedstop

the polini crank seems a bit pricey to me but it was one of your suggestions and the doppler er1 wud be just as good

and you already have the exhaust and carb for the job
