The only change with each ride should be a slightly lower level. These engines do use some oil.

I was always told to be just below the MAX marker.
Cause if you are too close to it or above when the bike is ridden hard you will get oil in the air box.

Your oil tank must have been replaced previously, the original had a white oil level indicator sticker as shown Bayou's photo.
When replacing the oil tank, the sticker does not come with the new one. You can order a new sticker from your local dealer or AF1, p/n AP8167560 look here http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scrip...idCategory=403

IMOA it probably would not have done any harm, but I went a little over on my first change and I did end up with oil in my air box. I now run with oil; coming half way up after a ride. When cold I can just see the oil at the bottom of the tube when on it's side stand. I have now separated the oil breather from the air box by blanking it off and having a separate pipe running to a catch tank and then a tee to a breather filter. I spotted it on a race bike and copied it, very easy to do, and to me why would you want hot oil vapour entering the air box anyway. For me I also had a mental problem with forced induction, if when travelling at higher speeds it is raising the air pressure in the air box, it must also be raising the pressure in the sump?

Hey Bayou, I was off on the 50cc thing. I was visualizing my RSV4 which of course is a WET sump motor. Now that you've put pictures up, there's no question on how much oil is how many mm's on the sight tube, nice work.

np, just wish I would have thought to do it myself. It would have been nice to see a pic of the before oil level for better documentation. In the future if I go a wee bit over I'm not going to worry about it.

I over filled my Mille. I hope it's ok. I also get oil in my airbox. How do I stop this from happening.

    oil?

    come on folks.....

    >its a dry sump motor
    >if you don't want oil in the air box you have to move the breather out of the air box like kz mille and i did
    >because the oil tank is made of cheap HSLA steel it changes shape.....look at the threads about the varying amounts of oil required to fill it to the same level

wait 'till the tank cracks.....right in the middle through the crease on the outside

As long as you can see the upper oil level in the sight tube you should be ok.
The oil tank is just holding that little extra in reserve....
