WARNING: niddu85 LOOKING FOR HELP TO CRACK XV TUNER.

I just want to warn people that niddu85 is asking for help from people with XV Tuner cables. A few days ago he sent me the PM below. Now he is PMing people asking them to read their cables serial number and info. He claims that he purchased a cable which took months to get and needs help recovering it so he doesn't have to buy a new one. Please do not help him.

I think everyone knows that if you have a problem with a cable, software, using the software you can post on here and/or email me. Sometimes I am slow to reply, but I will do my best help. Other forum members are always quick to jump in and offer help as well. I thank everyone that has shown there support for the XV Tuner software by purchasing a cable, and especially to those who offer assistance to others.

    Good morning KWest!
I'm an italian software developer like you interested in tuning ECU and in particular my SXV.
I found your software and looks very good so i decided to look into it.
Don't be scared, i don't want to make a business with it, just for my private usage and knowledge, and, if you want to be helped, i can also give you my support in debugging and developing new functions.
I can say as a developer that this software it is very easy to be cracked.
I bought a very simple FTDI usb cable and I made it recognise it with your software programming it with the "FT_Prog
It was simple to understand that the XV Tuner software is looking for a cable named "XV Tuner Cable" with a serial with the last 4 digits numeric (eg from your website WRD2018)

The program detects the cable and stands in "Connecting to ECU" but nothing else.

Looks like i cannot receive anything from the ECU. Also the Handshaking (:?y) doesn't reply with ":OK!" as espected, but the program goes on to request data to the ECU. I've also modified the program to do not start quering the ECU until when i have not a right handshaking answer, but i never receive anything back from the ECU.
Do you have any hint on what's wrong? Maybe there is some setting in the cable that i'm missing? (FT_ChipID ?)

I want to remember that i don't want to make money from your work, instead i want to improove my knowledge and give you my support in your work, maybe writing the software in C# instead of VB.net, and also obfuscating the software

    Best regards,
    Niddu85

Incredible.....................so i share what has taken YEARS and thousands of pounds freely, and we supply leads that represent what amounts to a token payment for what it enables you to do, ( My Axone was £2k 5 years ago)yet there is always someone who has to abuse it

Which is why, if you have a MXV, and want a modified map, the answer is NO !..................i remember long drives home late at night after spending hours and hours trying and failing just to get the map to load, let alone changing settings and developing it........ and having to miss race meetings for the same reason, and Kurt staying up all night sending endless files and software until he cracked it, its all fine and dandy now, but if anyone thinks its easy, think again !!

I find it so amazing how people can purchase an 'XV for around $5000, slap on an exhaust and air filter for another $1200+, and then have the balls to think that spending $270 is unjust and too expensive... Unbelievable... Pay the money for an amazing mod you cheap bastards.

Best line was at the end, "i don't want to make money from your work, instead i want to improove my knowledge and give you my support"... Improve his knowledge for Kurt to use? The guy can't even make the bike communicate properly! HAHA-----HACK!

And just to add - you all probably know more about these bikes than me, but I got Alice to install a map on my MXV, and his work is amazing - I was amazed at how complex it looked, and I only saw a very small part of what he does. The bike was totally transformed after the map was installed

Yeah, simply loading a map into a MXV is "complicated" to say the least !, and even now i have my fingers crossed every time.................but without the map they are slow, VERY slow !

    its the buyer seller principal.

the buyer wants it at the lowest price possible ore even for free.
the seller wants it at the highest price ore even sell it for more than he/she bought.

there will always be people that abuse others property be it material ore intellectual.

For the work that Kurt has put in to XV Tuner, and what it enables you to do, that cable represents amazing value for money. To come on here and blatantly try and trick your way out of making that payment is seriously taking the piss. Shameful.

I wonder if this guy calls up Agip like "So I been looking at your oil, it looks very simple. I bought some cheap vegetable oil and I think I can make it work, just give me your additive list."

The "seller" could have asked FAR FAR more for their contribution to the xv community. To ask $1k for the cable is still a drop in the bucket for the energy and time that was needed for develpoment of this amazing tuning tool. As Matt's dad said, It completely transformed his mxv into a monster, which would have never been accomplished if Kurt and Stuart's drive and passion hadn't been there. I know most of us have received personal phone calls from Kurt to help walk you through installation correctly. Who does that anymore at 10 o'clock at night??

It's wrong to criticize, let alone try to improve somebody's hard work when this was done for EVERYBODY to use. It is completely disrespectful any way you slice it.

They could have just kept the tool for themselves, and not shared it at all w/ anyone. Marinate on that.

I just want to say thanks again for Kurt and Alice racing for the work that they have done and the info they have provided. I myself have bought a cable and agree it could have cost more and in the long run has saved me money. I believe in supporting the people that help out others.

    Thanks again guys, much appreciated!

He should just buy the damn cable instead of trying to weasel his away around the software.
Wasted effort, even if he gets it in the end... 270$ would be a lot quicker and probably save him money.

Or add unique pinnumber linked to THE cables. So Kurt or stuart can authorise use of THE cable trough there sites for wich you need THE pin number.

I think THE cable is every bit worth its money and dont even own one yet
I've got two pistons makin me go foreward.
I need twelve to slow me down.
