I have a SR50R and wondering if anyone knows a way to convert the front headlights so that there is a twin filament bulb and that they both come on when the bike is started and both act as a fog light when the switch is flicked.
Any clue?

Not possible... There's a few components in the bike that are not up to the job off running both light's but can't remember off the to off my head!

Downhill: 57mph (no tuck, no wind)
Uphill: 44mph on what i would consider a good hill (No tuck, no wind)
At the moment im getting...(MX125)(Speed'o speed's) 16/45 16/43
Flat: 82.7mph, 6th gear... No tuck/No wind 87.2mph
Downhill: 86.2mph sat down but not on the tank... 91mph
Uphill: 73.6pmh, Steep hill, 5th gear pulling! 77.3mph
Aww man, cheers anyway. Its annoying that the both lights don't come on. People often tell me one bulbs blown and I have to explain the whole story![]()
You'll get used to it, I used to get it off everyone, i believe its the regulator or something that's not up to the job.

Yeah, I'm already used to it, my usual response now is yeah okay. Its the crap electrics on the bikes that is the problem. See the stand on your SR have you had to replace it at any point? The circular mounts on mine have ovaled and now it sits on both wheels with the stand up. Pain in the neck, need to now buy a new stand but I'm considering just buying a side stand and leaving the centre stand as it is. What do you reckon Dan?
sorry to but in but a centre stand is easy to replace its only 3 bolts , 2 small ones and one long one prob take half an hour to replace it
sr50r (carb) 2010 alitalia
completely stock
You could always just go HID.

I considered changing the centre stand but after purchasing a Giannelli exhaust for it and other things I'm being tight![]()
How hard were the HID's to install?
HID are easy to install. That link in red shows you step by step instructions
I've had a look at that and it seems confusing at first but I'll sit down and have a proper read at it. Do you have a wiring diagram or am I better asking the guy who put that up?
Also I've had a look online and I'm finding it hard to find anywhere that does a Bi-Xenon kit so I can wire the both lights up as side and main beams. You got anywhere you would reccommend?
Cheers, A.
Just noticed that the title is twin headline conversion, woops, meant it to be headlight.

As well as the wiring and power, the beam is shaped by the reflector and lens and needs the correct shaped filament in the correct place. The lens, reflector and bulb are set up as an assembly and changing any one will screw up the beam pattern, which is why it's illegal.
This is especially true of HIDs, which are also illegal, unless you fit a DoT or CE approved projector. Cheap conversions don't do this and are crap. If you want both lights together you need a pair of bi-xenon projectors. If you keep the two seperate lights, because of the HID start up delay you need to retain the halogen main beam and ensure that the low beam stays on when the hi beam is used.
HIDs without projectors cause dazzle to other drivers to the extent that they put you at increased risk of an accident. There's no point in having bright lights that don't point in the right place.
Be aware that in the UK new MOT rules come into force this month which will check the legality of the lights, so HIDs or any unapproved assembly will be an automatic fail. Until now, lights haven't been checked for anything more than a very basic alignment check.
The checks may also include the installation, so even a CE marked HID unit may fail unless it has a lens wash, a self levelling system, and lean compensation. The difficulty of fitting these to a 2-wheeler is why no motorcycle has HIDs as stock, apart from the BMW adaptive headlight.

Thanks for the info Rob. As always, very informative and helpful.
Thanks Rob. The problem I have with my headlights is that they are just poor at projecting light, they are bright enough to look at but when it comes to projection there is hardly any power henceforth why I was thinking of getting HID's.
