Oh really? What is that in inches, about an inch? I think I might be able to live with that. I was referring to the seat height. I'm only 5'6 but I figure why should that stop me from having fun too? lol
Is there somewhere I can find out at what mileage what service is to be done? It currently has about 9000 miles on it
5'7" 30" inseam on a good day. I lowered mine less than 1", to where seat is 31.5", which is the tallest i feel comfortable for a street bike. As soon as I swap out the 190/55 rear tire with a 190/50, It'll be lowered some 0.4". So I'll raise it back up the same amount.
I used a Soupy's adjustable link so i can do this. Try to lower the minimum amount you need to feel comfortable for street riding. Any more than 1-1/2" you'll need to consider stiffer springs, so you don't bottom out.
My track bunny is at stock height cus I don't expect to do much ballerina toe dance at the track.
You are right about more things to break. The RSV is my weekend funster and very occasional weekday ride. I've only put less than 700 miles in the 5 months or so since I owned it, so I'm not too worried about wearing things out. The adjustability is more important to me. I'd like to track it occasionally so I prefer to be able to restore it to stock height easily.
My forks are lowered less than 1/2" since that's the amount the rear will be lowered when the 190/50 get put on... soon. Yes, you are supposed to lower F/R the same amount to maintain chassis geometry. Within a reasonable amount, thought, the effect is not horrendous. You'll gain stability and lose turn in quickness, if you don't lower the front to match. For street riding at an easy pace, it's not all that bad. Experiment and see.
I have an 05 factory and stand maybe 5'6-7 at best, plus I have...big legs(muscular) which can be a challenge with any sport bike. I lowered the rear using AF1's kit and ran down the adjustment under the rear shock a bit. Also lowered the front to I think four or five lines showing(as low as I could make it go) still handles great.
Service intervals are in the owners manual. If you don't have one you can download it free from aprilia:

I guess, I doubt anyone could tell from looking at it that it's lowered. No one has ever looked at or sat on the bike and gone, wow it's lowered! It's still a bit tall for me, I think because the wide seat and my kinda thick legs, on my 09 zx6r stock ride height my feet are more on the ground then on my lowered aprilia. If your afraid it looks wierd, it dosn't, you can't tell it's lowered from looking at it other than the forks poking a little more than usual from the top tripple. No one ever notices that. I kept the front to rear tilt the same. I rarely go full lean and if anything it handles better then when I got it.
